Microphone on Xbox stopped working

Started on 14 October. Mic was working fine the day before and now doesn't. I've done hard reboot of Xbox One x, checked nap is open, fooled with chat mixer settings, even verified the mic works when using through Xbox app on phone.... Just doesn't
work on my new Xbox I bought a month ago. Any clue what's going on? I can hear everyone, but they can't hear me.

Microphone stopped working

Yesterday the microphone on my chat headset stopped working. Speaker still works fine, though. Same problem with both of my controllers. I might assume its a hardware prolem except for the number of similar complaints in the last few days on this forum.
Any ideas Microsoft?

Thanks for the reply. I have gone through the tutorial and even though I have your rechargeable battery packs that are fully charged I will try new batteries to verify.

Also, if you don't mind me bringing something else up but have you by any chance tried to see if a different controller does a difference or tried a different headset to see if it does the same thing?

If you go through all our troubleshooting steps and it's still not working I would suggest to do a

Soft Factory Reset as personal experience I've had to go through this step myself and it worked.

This will reset your Xbox butkeeping
your games and apps. The purpose of this is that when you're setting it up it's going to ask you
"We found previous settings do you want to apply settings or manual set up" you would want to choose
Manual and afterwards check to see if it resolved the mic problem.

Side Note: It is very important to make sure you have a secure network connection and know the primary email/password to the account before resetting the Xbox.

I tried a different controller, soft reset and also the original headset that came with my older xbox. Still the mic is not working

Thanks for keeping us posted on the matter. What do the
Network Stats look like? If the network isn't stable enough to support communication this could be the issue. We suggest power cycling the Network Hardware for 3 minutes and trying it again! Keep us posted!

 

I power cycled last night but also did it again. I get almost 200mbps down and over 5mbps upload speed. 0% packet loss, MTU is 1480, latency 36ms

Sounds like the problem might be on the actual OS of the console so we would suggest a

Soft Factory Reset (while keeping games and apps and hardwire the controller and headset) to make sure all the updates and drivers are meshing
IF AND ONLY IF THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA IS MET:

• There is a stable network connection.
• The information for all profiles is known (email and passwords)

We know this step has already been suggested but we want to try and update everything together so again
Hardwire the controller and headset to the console.

Once the setup is complete it will ask if we want to keep settings or manual setup lets do manual setup. Give it a shot and let us know of any changes!

If the Soft Factory was performed without change then the next step would be a Full Factory Reset which to be honest is a little more involved and unfortunately means all the game data will have to be re-downloaded. If that fails then the console could be
experiencing a malfunction and would need to be sent in for a repair. In case that is the case
