Microphone not working connected to Xbox One Controller

I cannot get the microphone to work via the xbox controller - it was working til around 10 days ago. I am using a Trust GTX 310 Gaming Headset which is connected via the 3.5mm socket on the controller. However the problem happens with another headset too.
The Xbox recognises the headset is connected and show the icon top right. Audio comes through the headphones but no audio is picked by the xbox from the mic. I have tried the headset with both of my controllers and it is the same with either. I have tried
to use the mic on my account and my sons (child) account - and no audio is picked up on either account. I have tried the account on a few games and apps (including the Skype Echo Call) and no audio is picked up. I have tried the headset plugged into my moblie
phone and audio is picked up by the microphone in that situation.

    Things I have tried:

    * Checked the controllers have the latest firmware

    * Checked the audio setting: mic is on, volume levels are not at the bottom

    * Checked in settings that mic is accessible - including that Skype has access to the mic

    * Checked there are no updates pending

    * Carried out a hard reset of the xbox by holding down the xbox button for 10 seconds then waiting a minute before restarting

If anyone has any other suggestions of things to check/try to resolve this then let me know

    Gareth

    :)

    disney sing it and microphone

There should be a connect button somewhere on the microphone, try pressing that and pressing the connect button on the controller at the same time, then move them next to eachother. If that doesn't work, or it doesn't have a connect button, try and see if
anything else came with the wireless microphone such as a cord with a USB on the end of it. It should have one in order to charge the microphone.

Bug: Microphone doesn't work after disconnecting Windows 10 streaming

Update: Regarding issue #2 (Headaet adapter issues while connecting Xbox One controller to Windows 10 PC for streaming)

    I discovered that:

    1) The headset adapter is just treated like an additional headphone and microphone under the Windows audio settings.

    2) To select which microphone to use (e.g. PC mic or microphone attached to Headset Adapter), set the desired microphone as your default device by right clicking volume/speaker icon at the bottom right of the taskbar and click "Recording devices."

    3) Odd behavior or malfunctions (e.g. headet microphone not working when streaming to Wkndows 10) may occur when there are too many USB plugged into the computer, causing insufficient USB controller resources.

When I plugged the Xbox One controller directly into my Surface Pro 2, the microphone automatically worked fine. When I docked my Surface Pro 2 into its docking station and plugged the Xbox One controller into the docking station's USB port, my headset adapter/Stereo
Headset's microphone was recognized, but the decibel meter would not detect any sound when spoken into. Occasionally, I would receive a "insufficient USB controller resources" error. This could also be an issue related to connecting the Xbox One controller
    to a USB hub.

Regarding issue #1 (headset adapter/stereo headset's microphone not working on Xbox One after disconnecting from streaming), I will see if I experience it again to isolate the issue.

Xbox gamepads do not have a microphone in it.
Yes I know the controller doesn't have a microphone it's when the microphone headset is connected to the controller.

bluetooth headset + gears controller not syncing

Is the microphone socket on your controller blocked by anything or has a previous wired microphone lead snapped while in the controller? The reason I ask this is because any wired microphone will not let a wireless microphone connect to the controllers player
number. If it looks clear, start up an Xbox Live party and check if it says a microphone is connected without turning on your wireless microphone, if it says a microphone is connected then there's the issue. If it's possible I would return it to the retailer
you bought it from for an exchange.
