    Microphone is making a terrible noise all the time, others apps ( Skype ) work fine.


    Every time I join a party, my microphone is on 'active'. As in I'm speaking all the time ( without me saying anything or even muting my mic on my headseat).

    My friends say it's an unbearable noise.

    Has anyone had this problem? And if yes, how did you fix it?

    Thanks for the replies. I'm sorry to hear about the issue with the skype app.

    To help clarify the issue:

    What device are you using? (PC/Xbox)

    If you are in PC, I would recommend to try re-installing the app.

    Try this out and let us know the results.

    Hey Zhieckess thanks for taking the time to bring this issue to us!

    We suggest checking out our Xbox One Chat Headset troubleshooting page on our website since there is some useful information on there. If that
    doesn't do the trick we suggest a reset of the console since

    the problem might be on the actual OS of the console so we would suggest a
    Soft
    Factory Reset     (while keeping games and apps with the controller and headset hardwired into the console to make sure the latest drivers are installed)
    IF AND ONLY IF THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA IS MET:

    • There is a stable network connection.
    • The information for all profiles is known (email and passwords)
    Once the setup is complete it will ask if we want to keep settings or manual setup lets do manual setup. Give it a shot and let us know of any changes!

    I've tried other bit rates but it still doesn't do anything.

    Sorry I just realised this is for Xbox app on pc try this and let me know if it works.

    It may be your bit rate/depth not being compatible with the party chat.

    Try right clicking on the sound icon on bottom right >> select sounds >> recording >> highlight your mic device >> select properties >> advanced tab >> change bit rate to DVD quality 2 channel 16 bit 48000 hz.

    make sure the xbox app is still set to the correct device and it may fix your problem!
