Microphone Icon [Microphone on Head Set is not working...

Hi All,

When playing games with friends they cannot hear my voice. I can hear them perfectly. There is an icon, on the bottom right corner, of my screen: A microphone with a diagonal line through it.

I have used the headphones [And microphone] on other devices and it works perfectly.

The microphone is plugged into the wireless controller.

The Headphones are made by 'Turtle Beach'.

Hi is the headset compatible with Xbox one devices? Do you have any online safety and privacy settings that may be preventing you from talking? You may need a parent to make some adjustments. Have you checked to make sure no updates are needed and checked
the Turtle Beach site as well to make sure nothing needs to be downloaded from there site either? My headset required a whole app to be installed before it worked

It will work as a pair of headphones. It will not work as a headset as the microphone will not work with the Xbox One.

The issue can be resolved by making Microphone as the default device and updating the sound card drivers.

Let's ensure that the microphone that you are using is not disabled and is set as default in the computer. Follow these steps to check this:

- Right click on the volume icon and select “Recording devices”.

- Now, right click on an empty space and select, “Show disconnected devices” and “Show disabled devices”.

- Select “Microphone” and click on “Properties” and make sure that the microphone is enabled.

- You may also check if the microphone that you are using is set as default.

In the bottom right corner of your screen, you will notice the volume icon in the system tray.

Right-Click on the volume icon and click Open Sound Settings.

In the Sounds Settings window, look for Input and Choose your input device and then click the blue Device properties link (circled in red) in the screenshot below..

This will pull up the Microphone Properties window. Click the Levels Tab and you will then be able to adjust your microphone volume settings.

The volume level does not have to be at 100%, but should be high enough that the computer can detect audio.

Please make sure that your microphone is not muted. If you see the icon below, click the speaker icon to un-mute.

Once you determine the best settings for you and your system, click OK to save the settings and then close all settings windows upon completion of adjusting your microphone volume settings.

Is it possible you accidentally pressed X while on a Party management screen?

That will mute you in this party.

Also try the following, to check if it's an issue with the microphone:

Create a new message to a friend (or any Gamertag, it doesn't matter as you don't really send a message).

Press the microphone icon to record a voice message.

Talk into your microphone, and when you have finished recording your message, listen to the message.

If that doesn't work, it's an issue with your microphone.

Has the microphone worked before? Or did you change headsets and microphones recently?
