MICROPHONE ICON ALWAYS LOCKED!!!!!!!!!!! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi, thanks so much for your time, and it is very much a controller issue as I just found out, not an issue with the OneS, like I thought it was. I was using different controllers and different tv's to try and diagnose what the problem was when I remembered
I had a wired remote for my OneS so I plugged that in and hooked my headset in and it worked perfectly!!! I'm so happy! I only wish I would've remembered I had the wired remote like 2 days ago!! Lol! I would've saved myself a LOT of frustration and headache.
Oh well. I'm going to order a new wireless remote and will keep everyone updated as to what happens with that. Thank you for all your time and effort!

Well, I'm not really sure if it's my remote or what, but I just found a wired remote I forgot I had, so I plugged that in to try and trouble shoot a little better and, low and behold, everything works now!! So, I'm going to order a new wireless remote
and pray that when it comes in there is no problem with the "mic muted" icon randomly appearring again.

Thank you all so much for all your suggestions. I wouldn't have thought about trying my wired remote if it weren't for everyone's help. I'll update when I get the new wireless remote.

OMG!!!!! I finally got it to work!!!! I have NO clue what the problem really is, but I got a wired remote and plugged it in to my OneS and once I plugged in my headset, it worked fine! So, I'm not sure if it's the remote that needs to be replaced or
what, but as long as it's working right now I'm happy!

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply, but I've tried that multple times and to no avail. I try to mute it and unmute it and the "mic mute" icon stays there. I am seriously at my wits end. I have honestly tried everything I can think of.

Thank you so much for taking the time to help me and first off, I'm NOT SHOUTING at people who are trying to help me, I'M SHOUTING WITH the THOUSANDS of people who have been searching and searching for
a solution to this issues for the last 3-4 year, at least, from what I've been reading the last few days. I've been through 4 or 5 different headsets, assuming it was just lousy luck, or my son being rough on things and breaking them causing things to keep
cutting out. If I may, let me explain, briefly, my setup. I have gaming systems at the current moment in one room of my home. I have 2 Xboxes, a One and a One S, both side by side and a PS4 which is also in the same room. I have the Xbox One on a large
flat screen tv and the One S on a large computer monitor sitting right next to it so that my son and I can both play Fortnite and Call of Duty together. I've had problems off and on since I got the OneS with the muted mic icon and have not been able to definitely
figure out why. Like I said, I always thought it was the headphones, but Sunday I went and bought a pair of Turtle Beach Recon 200 and set them up as described and they work great on the One, and worked for about a minute on the OneS, then the muted mic icon
appeared and I can't hear anything on the headset and no one can hear me. I can still hear things from the monitor as the game is playing, but no party chat or anything. When I look in the party chat, it says "We can't find a microphone for this person"
talking about me, and it says to go to DEVICE SETTINGS in red, so when I click on the red "device settings" prompt, it takes me to the remote control setup and dedication. I'm not sure if I've done something wrong there? I've set that up quite a few months
ago and nothings changed, was I supposed to do something different when I got a new headset with the remote pairing or setup? I haven't used a different remote with the One S and the headset yet, so I'm going to order one today and see if that helps. Anyway,
if you need any further info, please let me know and again, I really, really appreciate your help and ANY input you can give me. Like I said before, I was not yelling at the people I'm begging for help, I'm yelling WITH them, AT Xbox due to the lack of information
there is about this matter. I was really surprised to see how many people had this same issue for SO long only to have such little response from Microsoft, other than "Send it to us for $180 and we'll look into it!" REALLY?! You spend a few hundred dollars
on a machine only to have them say "Send us ANOTHER $180 and we'll LOOK INTO it?!" That's not acceptable to me.. I'm sorry. I am so grateful for people like you and the others that take the time to try and help others in the community without trying to
