MICRO MACHINES: How to access local multiplayer mode? "Profile already in use"

I have micro machines world tour for my 6 year old and he's been playing it constantly for days now, but he really wants to race against his little brother and I cant find a way for them to play together.

I have read on other forums that there is no local multiplayer race mode, but there should be a local multiplayer battle mode or elimination mode. It says 1-4 players on the box.

When I try to play multiplayer I get the screen with 4 players/icons saying press A to join. But I can only get one controller to join. When I press A on the other controller I get a message about "this profile is already in use" or something.

I've tried having several different profiles signed in to the xbox account at the same time, but that doesn't seem to work.

I dont have an xbox gold account, as I dont play any games on-line (multiplayer) but I shouldn't need this for local multiplayer should I?

You can't load two characters from the same profile. Does your friend have a save file already?

Thank you for posting on Xbox forums. I haven't played the game myself, but I would have thought that having 2 controllers on, signed into different profiles, would have allowed local multiplayer. You are correct in saying that you do not need live gold
for local multiplayer.

You may want to seek
support from the Developers as well. This link also has it's own forums. The community may be able to assist!
