    Mic volume levels

    Hey there

New to the Xbox one world.

I bought the Halo Console last week which has the controller with a built in 3.5mm headphone jack.

I've tried using a pair of Kingston HyperX1 & 2 headphones with it and I'm able to get game sound but my mic doesn't seem to work. I can hear myself if I go to the volume self control and put that to max but when I go to messages and try to record a voice
message I can't hear anything at all.

I tried using the Microsoft chat headset that came with the console but get the same problem as well. Anyone have any ideas on what I can do?

My system and controller are fully updated. Is there anywhere you can adjust mic volume? All I can find is system/game audio and the mic self correcting volume.

I did see a couple of posts online of people saying the mic volume on newer controllers is extremely low.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    :)

Headset Adapter, Mic Not Detecting Normal Voice

Thanks for the sympathy, Sauzeeg. Lol.

I wish they would at least add some settings in the UI to be able to manage the mic volume/detection levels. Plenty of applications that handle mic input have that capability.

    Need a mic mix

There is no way to turn up the volume on the mic OUT in the xbox app but you can turn it up in the windows settings.

Right click the speaker icon at the bottom right in the windows taskbar > Sounds > Recording > Right click your device > Properties > Levels > adjust the volume and dB levels there.

Hmm thats a tough one if the xbox head set is doing it too. All I can think of is see if the 3.5mm pin is loose in the controller socket. I had an after market headset and the pin was .01mm too thin and gave me this same problem but your xbox headset should
not be having this issue. If possible try another controller to see if the problem persists.

    Microphone very quiet

You should check the levels of your microphone from the console.

    1. With your headset attached, press the glowing “Xbox” button
    2. Navigate to the “System” tab
    3. Select “Audio”
    4. Adjust the “Mic monitoring” option
    5. Slide the bar left to decrease the microphone volume level
    6. Slide the bar right to increase the microphone volume level
    Hope this helps! :)

Astro a20 headset - People can't hear me

So the input is very low even when testing on Windows settings, right? Please check if the mic input is on max levels:

    - Go to Start > Settings > System > Sound > Choose mic > Device Properties. Use the slider to increase mic volume.

If the issue persists after the Windows sound input is on max levels, please let me know.
