Mic static using Xbox game bar on PC while in an Xbox party

Whenever I join my friends party (they’re on Xbox, I’m on PC) they complain about static coming through my mic. I’ve tried the nitrate fix and nothing changed. Any solutions?

Hello Cedric,

Try to right-click on the little speaker icon in the right-hand side of the taskbar, and click on recording devices. Double-click on your active microphone and click the tab that says "Advanced". In the drop down menu, change it from the default, I used "2 channel, 16 bit, 96000Hz (Studio Quality)".

This is the solution I’ve seen all over the forums but like I said in the post that doesn’t work for me.

Thats what I'm doing.. the only thing I am doing different from playing keyboard/mouse is the controller itself. but when i plug it in every setting on the pc changes to controller mic. Even though the controller has no mic. So I go back through all the
pc settings and xbox companion settings and change it back but the xbox game bar will not let me use the usb mic anymore. I have to unplug the controller and reset the pc to be able to use my mic again. when I start a party in the companion app it says my
mic is working , but if i am in a party on that app for some reason I'm not in a party on the game bar... so if i start a party on the game bar the mic still doesn't work..

I’m not playing on console. My mates are. And I’m using the Xbox game bar on pc to party up with them while playing destiny 2 on pc, destiny 2 has cross play so I use the game bar to party up with Xbox console players. Also I have a Xbox series s if i do the steps above does the console need to be on or no
