  1. Mic problems on my brand new Xbox One

I have been asked to add my own mic problem post for November 29th, 2015 because apparently my mic problems are somehow different than everyone else's mic problems. Ok, I purchased a brand new Xbox One 4-days ago, without a Kinect, and thought everything
was fine until my friends invited me to a join a party chat. When I joined, I could see everyone's profile but on my profile there was a pyramid inside (concealing) my profile and above my profile it stated something like "Warning: We were unable to detect
someone's microphone". I could hear everyone in the party thru my 5.1 system, and they all had chat sets, but they obviously couldn't hear me. I troubleshooted everything via Microsoft phone support for over an hour, and the MS representative said that my
microphone or controller were faulty. So I rushed over to my retailer and they happily exchanged 2 brand new controllers and headsets with 2 more brand new headsets. Needless to say, the same problem occurred. As far as troubleshooting goes there was hours
of conversations between MS and my ISP, and included hard resetting, portal openings, cache clearing, HDMI queries etc. Now, I can play online, download anything, my HDMI is running at 1080p successfully, and everything but the mics work fine. The problem
is that the mic is fine on my iPhone, so obviously the issue is a firmware or hardware issue. I have ordered a stereo headset adapter to see if this changes anything, but from what I've read on the forums, people who own it and Turtle Beach headsets are out
of luck too. Now I shouldn't have to outlay more money for a console that should work, but I want it to work, but it doesn't look good. The last conversation I had with MS phone support suggested that my One itself is faulty, and though technically it is,
from what I've learned is that many thousands have experienced this same and they relate it to the recent November 2015 update. I would like to keep my One and 15 games that I purchased, but I have signed up to a 1TB internet plan and 12-months of Live, but
it looks like the One is finished before it started for me and I'll have to call it a wipe. My retailer will refund every cent, or replace it, but from what I've learned is that the problem is systemic. If someone has a suggestion, go ahead, but I've tried
it all except packing it back in the box and obtaining a refund. Disappointing.

    :)

  4. Mic problems on my brand new Xbox One

PS: I am a Preview member despite having never signed up for it and deliberately going out of my way to avoid it. No voice chat makes Dying Light, ESO, Star Wars, and whatever other multiplayer games I purchased as useful as a coffee coaster.

  6. My solution: I unplugged my headset, plugged in my iPhone headset and for the first time it registered that I had a mic connected. So I replaced it with the One chat set, which didn't work, so I unplugged it PILEDRIVED the chat set into the controller and
it now works. Temporary? Who knows? MS fix the issue? Whatever happened worked - for me at least.

  7. Eh, I wish you the best of luck. We've had our console for I guess close to a year now and I am still plagued with chat issues. It seemed to work fine in Destiny, but in Advanced Warfare and now the new BO3-it's horrible. I mean I refuse to believe that
NO ONE is ever talking in Call of Duty, but you almost never hear anyone talking. Game chat is a joke. My party will opt for game chat, and if we have say four people in our group: it is a never-ending battle of someone not being able to hear someone else.
So we all unplug, plug back in and now you can hear the person you couldn't hear before, but now you can't hear a different person. It's ridiculous. I've bought new controllers, new headsets...nothing has helped. I wish they would just fess up if it's
a system issue. I feel like we spent $500 on a broken product. Well....more than that even if I add in the controller we had to replace thanks to the stupid stick that would drag up from the time we bought it, the second controller that also broke from normal
use and the new set of turtle beaches that I'm close to setting on fire.

The problem is you are using an incompatible mic.

Any product that works with the iPhone (mic) will not work with an xbox one.

So basically you will need to purchase a compatible mice.

    See OMTP vs. CTIA -
    support.xbox.com/.../connect-compatible-headset

Not all 3.5-mm audio jacks are made to the same standard. There are two audio jack standards:

Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association (CTIA), and

    Open Mobile Terminal Platform (OMTP).

If you use an OMTP headset, you’ll probably experience audio or chat issues. However, if your headset or earbuds use the OMTP standard, you can purchase an adapter to convert the device to CTIA. These adapters are available at many electronic retail stores.
