Mic not working on Xbox party chat, but is working on my laptop

My headset I use on my elite series II on my xbox series x has suddenly stopped working. There’s no mic monitoring no audio output when i talk, unless I wiggle the mic which makes static. I thought it was my headset / mic being broke but I plugged it into my laptop and I could speak to people on apps on there just fine. Any help?

I am sorry to hear that.

Have you tried your headset while using a different controller? Or use a different headset with the same controller.

The issue might be the headphone jacket on your Elite Series.

Iv done the steps you said to take an it still does it on mw2 my mic is not working in game chat on dmz iv tryed everything nothing will work it works in party chat but not game chat it works fine on vandgard just mw2 I can't get mic to work it's getting really annoying

It seems the issue is related to the in-game chat option not working properly in a streaming format since your mic and headsets works in other formats and they work separately on different displays.

What happens if you invite your brother's profile to an Xbox Live party chat and communicate that way? Is there an audio or mic issue when forming a party chat and choosing to not speak in game chat?

It's weird, my mic works for party chat, it works for recording messages, works for talking to Cortana. It won't however work with game chat! No matter what game I'm in it shows that a mic is hooked up but the icon won't flash when i talk into it.

I've checked to make sure I'm not in a party and I'm not. Something is up Microsoft needs to fix this.

This same issue has been ongoing for months. My son can hear his friends but his mic doesnt work.

The “fix” where you turn off the mic and push to talk in fortnite settings would occasionaly work bit now doesnt.

all other games and apps work with the mic.

The problem persists on another xbox signed in with his profile, using a different headset, so this is not a hardware issue.

other profiles on his xbox have no issues with sound/mic

this is an issue effecting certian profiles accross fortnite only party chat, xbox party chat works fine, which cant be used for crossplatform party play.
