Mic not working in the xbox app and in party chat while streaming

I have a headset with mic that I can hear game audio coming through while streaming and when in the party chat can hear my friends talking. They can't hear me with the mic. I have the little mic icon unmuted at the top of the window, set to default in my
playback devices. My mic does work because I was using it to talk to a friend through steam. With the part beta in the xbox app friends can join my party but I can't hear them and they can't hear me. I right click on my picture and it says mute so I click
it. Then when I right click my picture again it says unmute, I click it but it doesn't do anything. Just keeps saying unmute. I see that this is a problem with the xbox app and it needs to be updated.

    :)

  2. Mic not working through game streaming

While using my mic in the xbox app party chat it works perfectly fine, but while streaming it won't work on the console. Mic is unmuted at the top of the screen and I have had it working before but now it doesn't work at all for some reason.

  3. Windows 10 Game Streaming Microphone Not Working!

So recently when Game Streaming through the Xbox App on Windows 10 I used to be able to talk to people with my microphone while game streaming in game chat and party chat, but after some updates, it no longer works and says no microphone detected! I've followed
EVERY step in setting the microphone as a default playback/recording device and no success. I can use the party chat feature in the Xbox App but I can't use my mic while streaming which is frustrating!

    Afternoon!

Sorry to hear you're having trouble chatting with your friends. There are a few things that may be causing this trouble for you, so we'd like to narrow it down as much as we can. First, you mentioned you're able to use your headset with Steam, have you tried
using your headset directly on your Xbox One console? If so, do you get any chat issues then?

If you're getting chat issues even when playing directly from your Xbox One console, let's try your headset on a different controller or a different adapter. You may need to reach out to a friend or family member to borrow one.

We may also want to try a Skype echo test by opening up the Skype app on your Xbox One and calling 'Skype Test Call' from your contact list. If you're still not able to hear yourself, this would indicate a hardware issue with your headset or controller.

Once you're able to try these steps, keep us in the loop! We may need to dive into your network as well.

I need to have my headset connected to the xbox one controller to use the chat on my pc? Even in the start a party beta? Everywhere I have read people said you just need your headset connected to the pc and have the headset and mic set to default in the
playback devices on windows 10. When in the start a party beta I right click on my user profile pic and it says mute. I press mute then right click again, it says unmute. I press unmute and nothing happens. It just keeps saying unmute.

    Hey Dom!

To clarify, that is an option for party chat within the Xbox App. What I was referring to was testing the headset on your Xbox One console to see if you get any chat issues directly from there, just to narrow down whether this is a network or hardware issue.
Using your headset directly connected to your PC rather than connected to your controller is a bit a different. Apologies for the confusion on that!

For this particular issue you'll want to leave feedback from within the app detailing the exact issue you're using. Once you leave party in the app you can rate your experience and provide your reasoning. Be sure to provide information on the headset you're
using along with what's going on.

I appreciate the help. Yeah every time I use the party beta and close out I leave feedback of what has happened. I have the headset that came with the xbox one and it works. I can hear my friends and they can hear me in the party chat on the console. On
the pc when I have the headset on I can hear them and the game sound through the xbox headset but they can't hear me.

    Ah ok, cool!

Thanks for clarifying on that. Because it's working for you through the console it doesn't appear to be a hardware issue with your headset. That feedback is going to be your best route for now, as the feature is still being worked on. Also, if you have a
firewall enabled on your PC, be sure to set permissions for the app.

  9. Same problem here. I've tried my Logitech wireless headset as well as a USB headset. Both work fine in Windows apps, but no mic on Xbox Streaming for game chat, voice messages, or parties. It does seem to work in the Xbox app Parties though.

I have the beta app v11.11.3013.

Here is the issue that I encounter and how I work around it.

    Set Up:

    * I have my Xbox One wireless controller with Turtle Beach XO7 headset plugged into controller.

    * My Xbox One wireless controller is wirelessly connected to my Xbox One

    * I have no other controllers plugged in or online (either with my Xbox One or my PC)

    * I have no microphone plugged into my PC nor are any recording devices enabled or active on my PC

On my Xbox One on the TV I turn on my controller and headset. I start up (or join) a party chat. I am able to chat normally and my party-mates are able to hear me.

I start up Game Streaming to Windows 10 Xbox One Beta app. I am still using my wireless controller but all of a sudden my party-mates cannot hear me any longer.

    Work Around:

I log my profile out of the Xbox One and then re-sign into my profile. I can then join or start a profile with my Xbox One controller headset working perfectly fine. All party-mates can hear me and I can hear them.

I really hope Microsoft figures out a way to seamlessly transition party chat and Xbox One wireless controller + headset on the fly from non-streaming to Windows 10 streaming!

And to be clear, the action of logging out of my profile and back in must happen during the Game Streaming session otherwise the temporary fix doesn't work.

  15. Hey i just wanted to chime in case someone else has this same issue.

When streaming to PC from Xbox One here's this is the process to get party chat to work.

Turn on your xbox, get into your party and into the game.

    Turn on streaming to PC.

Turn off your controller and turn it back on and it will work.

Not sure why I have to do this, but it's the only way to make it work.
