Mic not working correctly

the headset/mic on our xbox one is not working correctly. We bought a new one in April and its very temperamental on when it works, It wouldn't work on the wireless controller but did on the wired one, also it was working on fortnite but not Minecraft.
Thought it was the old controllers so bought a new controller. Same thing was happening. We have 2 xbox's (one and X) and we tested between the 2 and there was a lot of static. We then bought another headset and tested between the 2 xbox's again and they worked
but still a little bit of static. However when my son goes on with his friends they cannot hear him properly. We've gone through the settings on the xbox and just cant figure out whats wrong. Could we really have 2 faulty headsets?

Oh really? Wow thats terrible. The new console is a wired one and the headset is also wired. Its not an xbox one headset its a stealth.

I do know that intermittent disconnects can happen with the wireless controllers due to wifi interference, like my issue recently was my stealth 600 just randomly started to disconnect and reconnect and found out that my wifi settings on the router we causing
it somehow but after setting it to auto and keeping my phone away from the xbox it seemed to fix the issue.

Also you said that it worked on the wired controller but not the wireless, do you have a random pair of phone headphones that have a mic? if so can you plug it into the controller port on the wireless and see if you get the same issue?

The static could be due to some sort of interference, but its really hard to tell.

Hey SamWyatt2,

Having two faulty devices has actually happened to me before and it was replaced one after the other and only after the 3rd was things ok, but just to check is the headset a wired one or wireless and is this an xbox headset or a 3rd party one?

I have the same problem. I've connected them all correctly as shown in the manual, but the mic still isn't working

Thanks for coming to the forums. We understand having issue with your mic. Have you tried the mic on your phone or other device and does it work? On the home screen of the console in top right corner is there a line through the mic symbol? It is possible
the mic is no longer working correctly. Personally had this happen on one of mine heard everything but mic stopped working. Try these and let us know.
