Mic not working at all

Hi, i bought a new pair of headphone with a built-in mic. I plugged it into my controller and i can hear sounds and voice but the mic is not working at all... I verified the connections, the mic is not on mute, either in the group control and in the settings.
I tried it on my phone and it was working all good. I bought a new controller and i got the same problem... please help its very annoying

ok go into your settings on Xbox under device and accessories, then attach the controller to the Xbox via a cable then attach the mic to the controller find controller update and click update and don't move your controller (click update even if one is not
available) hopefully this will fix it
