Mic not registering

On the xbox companion app, my headset mic is not being registered with the app. I even went into settings and made sure the microphone was on for all the xbox apps. What should I do?

Please try these links i am sure they will help. Sorry you are having such an issue its not uncommon so be patient.N What type of headset do you have? Is it wired or wireless possibly.

this is about the default xbox mic also I can hear people, I can here everything, the mic just does not register my voice

Before we try any different solutions, would you know how to tell me if your controller is up to date, please check this by following the instructions below.

Solution1:

Instructions to install the update should automatically appear. Follow the instructions, and don’t disconnect the USB cable while the update is in progress. The process can take up to 3 minutes. If instructions to install the update don't automatically appear, you can start the process manually. To do this, press the Xbox button  to open the guide, choose Profile & system > Settings > Devices & connections > Accessories, and then select the controller you want to update. On the Xbox Wireless Controller screen, select “…” to check the firmware version for your controller. If it says “Update,” select Firmware version, and then follow the steps provided.

*If you use the headset on the controller, make sure you have it plugged into your controller at the time of upgrade.

Solution 2:

When you set up a profile for a child on the console, the Privacy & online safety settings let the parent profile control who can communicate via chat with the child on Xbox Live. In the Privacy & online safety section, you can enable chat communication in the child's profile. For players under age 17, the default setting is Friends Only.
