Mic muted bug

My sons xbox is showing the mic is muted on the screen next to the battery. We have 3 headsets and 2 controllers and tried them all. We are getting no sound. Is it a bug that came with the update? We have tried everything even technical support couldnt
help!!!

Headset: Can hear friends, but mic won't detect my voice. Tried 2 headsets. Kinect mic works!

Also, if I record a voice message, Xbox says no mic detected; check to see if your mic is muted.

It's NOT muted!

 

PC connecting to Xbox party static noise

Im on PC and when i tried to connect to an Xbox party as they were on Xbox when i joined my mic sadly, with it not muted and it muted, made a horrible high volume sound and i had to leave for it to stop, is this just a bug with the new Xbox syncing with
all devices update or is it something else? (my mic works perfectly on every other thing needing a mic, it just does the noise when i enter a party on Xbox)

Sorry to hear about the mic issue, let's try to get your son back into his gaming. We suggest you try a

Factory Reset while keeping your games and apps; simply do the following:

1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
2. Select Settings.
3. Select All Settings.
4. Select System.
5. Select Console info & updates.
6. Select Reset console.

If for whatever reason, this doesn't fix the issue, please provide any additional troubleshooting you have done by yourself or with tech support.

Sorry to hear that the soft factory reset did not help. By any chance have you tried testing out the mics on a different account?

The network can also interfere with the Xbox recognizing headsets. I recommend unplugging your network hardware for a few minutes if you haven't done so already. I would have my Xbox unplugged as well while you power cycle the Router/Modem.

By any chance is your console enrolled in the preview program? If so, you may want to report this problem through the insider hub.

1. On your console, install the
   Xbox Insider Hub app (if you don’t already have it).
   
2. Hold down the Xbox button on the controller.
3. On the power menu, select Report a problem.
4. Describe the problem in detail, including when it happened, if you saw any specific error codes or messages, and if you were using any specific games, software, hardware, or accessories when you encountered the problem.

Sorry to hear that this is still persisting. Have you attempted to update the controllers? If not I would recommend to check if they need an update. Here's an article on how to

I would recommend for you to go over the settings on the Xbox to make sure everything is set up correctly. Here is a helpful article

'Troubleshoot sound on your Xbox One' If everything seems to be updated, and set up correctly yet the issue persists.

I would suggest to do the
Full Factory Reset, this will remove everything on your Xbox One. When setting up the console after logging in to the account it will bring up a message saying "We found settings from your previous console, do you want to
apply settings or manual set up" Choose
Manual set up.

If you have tried all the steps and all fails you will either need to set up a
fulfillment or contact Xbox Support. When contacting Xbox Support use either the Phone option or the Microsoft Support Chat option on

When registering a fulfillment it will also show if the console is within warranty or not, when within warranty the
fulfillment/replacement will usually be free of charge.

Sorry to hear that this is still persisting, but you have said "We have 3 headsets and 2 controllers ".

Have you tried keeping the controls plugged in then tests the headsets?

Have you fully charged or changed the batteries in the control?

Does the console run on a 1.Hotspot, 2. Wired network, or 3. Wireless network?

I would recommend you set up
port forwarding if that is the case. (either sign into your router and set them up or contact your internet provider)

Hey Laura,

I see you've already gone through most of the troubleshooting for this particular issue. A little trick that worked recently for my older Xbox One was switching my

power mode from instant-on to energy saving mode. Give that a shot, or if it's already set, switch in back and forth with restarting the console in between. Let us know if this helps!
