Mic icon always showing after updating controller

So , my xb1 is only a week old. about 4 days ago i purchased a turtle beach headset. This required to do the update on my controllers. Immediately after the update my mic icon stays on despite no mic connected. If I plug in mic then unplug the icon will
go away but about 15 seconds later it comes back on. I have 2 controllers and both are doing this. I am tempted to exchange the box but don't think this is a hardware problem because it started right after the update and did not do this before. I have read
3 other post in these forums on this issue with NO answer. Does this with both tb and standard headset. Also does on multiple games and party chat

I have tried hard resets , unplugging and clearing cache , removing batteries from controllers and have no kinect.

Is this a firmware problem that will be fixed in next update or is this a hardware problem? Would really like to know before I exchange the box. Starting to get annoying with ppl trying to talk to me when mic is not connected.

also has a problem sometimes switching from game chat to party chat but if I restart box it fixes the problem. Don't know if the 2 are related

Xbox One Chat mic not working.---Help us All Out..PLease

To clarify my issue for comparison. I can hear other people with the Xbox One Chat Headset. They cannot hear me. In addition the mic icon in the Xbox Live Party Chat Menu is ALWAYS ON regardless of whether or not the mic is plugged in or the controller is
on or off. The mic icon is ALWAYS ON.

 

xbox1 controller always shows mic plugged in

Just bought a new xbox 1 and for whatever reason I got another controller that always shows a mic is plugged in, same thing happened with my x360. Updated the controller and if I plug in a mic it shows and works but when I unplug the mic the icon goes away
for a second then reappears like I plugged the mic back in.I did testing in destiny to see the mic icon. Do I have a faulty controller and need to return it or is there a fix?
