mic don't want to pic up sound

    hi there,

since a week my mic isn't working. I tried it on my phone and everything is fine. I mad sure i wasnt on mute or something but still can't talk in a party or in a game chat. so I checked the privacy and online safety and there is nothing wrong. I tried
to do an update on my controller but it say that it dont need update. My Nat Type is open. I spent like 7-8 hours on this issues still couldnt find what's wrong... however I tried to do a skype test call and my mic worked.... So I guess it's a server error...
how can I fix it.... ?

    :)

  2. My headset mic won’t detect sound

So I have a Xbox mic and I can clearly hear sounds but my mic will not pic up sound. I checked and it’s not muted. The mic monitoring is all the way up. And everything is updated. I’m just really confused on why it’s doing this because it was previously
    working with my last headset.

  3. issue with inline mic levels with headset adapter

The Skull candy mic is not high quality so its something that comes with a lesser quality mic.

Typically headsets with boom mics pic up sound better, as these are designed too work with mp3 players and cell phones rather than gaming. You will also find that these only play in one ear on Win7 PC's....

Be glad the mic even works as most headsets like this are OMTP (iPhone compatible and don't work at all)

It's odd that your mic worked on Skype but not elsewhere. You might try and remove your profile and add it back and see if that makes a difference.

If you have another profile on your Xbox, you might try that one.

It could be the console too. You could try and run a console reset choosing the Keep My Games and Apps option too.

Here's some troubleshooting I'd usually suggest. You might review it just in case something got missed.

The Xbox One controller uses the same wiring standard that Android phones use (CTIA). If you have an Android phone, plug in your headset and see if you hear anything and try and make a call using the headset, make sure the mic is working too.

Apple phones use an OMTP standard and the mic and ground wire are flipped and the mic doesn't work on the Xbox controller.

Connecting a compatible headset to Xbox One

Connecting Compatible Headsets | Xbox One

    Troubleshooting basics -

    - Make sure the mic mute switch on the headset is not on

    - Clean the jack that plugs into the bottom of the controller and re-seat the headset jack

    - Check the mic on the headset. Some mics are detachable, so re-seat the mic on the headset

    - Hard reset the Xbox - Hard reset the Xbox by holding down the power button on the front of the Xbox for 15 seconds. After the 15 seconds let go of the power button then restart the Xbox.

    Xbox One Chat Headset troubleshooting

Xbox One Mic Not Working | Troubleshoot No Sound for Wired Headset

With your headset plugged into the bottom of your controller

    - Hit the Xbox Button on your controller and instead of choosing settings, choose Audio

    - Make sure the Headset Mic is set to On and headset volume and mic monitoring is turned up

    - Check the headset itself just to make sure there's no mute enabled on the headset

Start a party and see if the circle lights up around your gamer pic

On your Xbox, make sure the headset audio is set correctly - if this fixes it you're good

Settings > Display and Sound > Audio Output > Headset Audio - Stereo Uncompressed

Controller troubleshooting. If it's a software issue with the controller, this should help.

    1) Settings > Kinect and Devices > Devices and Accessories > More Options

    2) Select Firmware version, (even if it states no update available) and then choose Update Now.

    - When its done it should state no updates needed

    - Choose Close

    3) Choose More Options > Select Assigned to and re-assign your profile to your controller

    4) Buzz the controller. It should buzz. If it doesn't, either the feature is turned off or the batteries are low. Use new batteries and test again.

    5) Go back to Configure and choose Restore Original. This resets the controller back to defaults

    6) Pull the batteries out of the controller and leave them out until the Xbox has restarted from the step below

    7) Hard reset the Xbox - Hard reset the Xbox by holding down the power button on the front of the Xbox for 15 seconds. After the 15 seconds let go of the power button then restart the Xbox.

    8) Put batteries back in the controller

    9) Re-sync your Xbox One controller to refresh the connection back to the Xbox.

    - If you're not sure how - How to Sync an Xbox One Wireless Controller with Your Console

    10) With your headset plugged into the bottom of your controller

    - Hit the Xbox Button on your controller and instead of choosing settings, choose Audio

    - Make sure the Headset volume is all the way up

    11) Now test the headset and see if it's working.

If your headset and mic are working on an Android phone but not working with the controller, it could be an issue with the controller.

    Xbox One S 3.5mm controller - mic doesn't work

Xbox firmware I'm assuming, I'm just not sure why some people's mics work and some don't.

If I'm in a party with someone who can still talk, I can hear them over my headset(s), but they can't hear me talk, and the xbox doesn't pic up any sound from the mic.

    Mic sensitivity

Most of the time this is done by the maker of your microphone. Mics that cancel background noise use 2 mics to accomplish this. One on the outside to pic up background noise one on the inside to pick up voice. More settings would let a single microphone
be able to differentiate the different noises. Even standing mics have built in setting to limit this as in being directional or a 360 sound. So if you want a mic that can do that you need to.pick out a headset that has these capabilities.
