Mic chat cutting in and out 9

We understand the inconvenience caused. As per description, you are having issue on your Mic while chatting and hearing from other people in the game. You still have your game audio working. Let us check on this together and sort this out to assist your concern.

However, we’d like to know more about it in details so that we can provide a more accurate resolution for you. To start, please provide us information/answer on the following questions:

1. What platform are you playing (Xbox Console, PC or phone)
   
2. When did the problem start?
   
3. Is this happening to all games?
   
4. Xbox app and Gaming services version? Xbox app > select Profile picture > Settings > About.
   
5. What troubleshooting steps have you done?
   
6. Was this working before?
   
7. Have you tried using Microphone to other device and check if still the same issue?
   

I am not so sure if you are on a console, as you did not clearly mention on your post. If you are on a console, try to do the steps below.

• Clean your console's MAC and restart your internet devices.
  
• Network Settings> Advanced Settings> Alternate MAC address and Clear.
  
• If the problem persists this may be because your ISP is limiting or blocking the ports that Live needs to function properly. I recommend calling your ISP and asking to open these ports.
  
  Port 88 (UDP)
  Port 3074 (UDP and TCP)
  Port 53 (UDP and TCP)
  Port 80 (TCP)
  Port 500 (UDP)
  Port 3544 (UDP)
  Port 4500 (UDP)
  
  Also ask to put the IP of the console in the DMZ zone, if you need additional ports this function will take care of that.

I think that sounds like a slightly different issue. I don't get any chat audio at all once a mic cable is plugged in. I've tried a few mic cables and the problem is totally consistent. I'm waiting to test out whether I've got a defective unit here but am
having to wait due to the stock shortages. My gut feeling is that this is actually a software issue. The fact that chat audio plays through the headset before a mic is plugged in, then cuts out as soon as the mic is plugged in means that the adaptor is detecting
the mic and then incorrectly cutting out the chat audio.

I'm sorry you have this problem. Follow the instructions below for a solution.

Check the Xbox status page. If there are any services with alerts, expand that service, scroll down to Notifications, and sign in to receive a message when the service is back up and running.

On the taskbar, press and hold the volume icon.

Note you can also right click on the volume icon.
Select Fix sound problems and follow the instructions.

When things don't work as expected, sometimes restarting your device can fix the problem. Press the Home button , select On/Off, and choose Restart.
This is not always the most convenient solution, but sometimes it is the simplest. Make sure all ports are firmly connected when reconnecting devices.

Make sure Windows has permission to use your audio device by going to your privacy settings. For example, to check your microphone privacy settings:
Press the Home button , type settings, and select Settings.
Choose Privacy, and under App Permissions, select Microphone.

Make sure Game Bar is activated.
Xbox Game Bar highlighted in the microphone app permissions list.

Note To use many Xbox features in Game Bar, including party chat, you must have the Xbox app for Windows installed and signed in.
Get the Xbox app for Windows
Run a virus scan using Windows Security or software you have installed.

Once all viruses and threats have been removed, restart your computer.
Temporarily disable your security software and try to start or join a group again.
