canceling your account doesn't stop you from accessing the account that is upto you if you want to no longer access it

canceling an account doesn't delete the account it just prevents you from accessing gold features

you can still use the account even when canceled

Gold only allowed the ability to play online multiplayer. Core does essentially the same thing but with the added benefit of a handful of Game Pass games with it. So the switch from Gold to Core would not make it so you can no longer access certain games. If you had Game Pass along with Gold and no longer have the Game Pass part, then yes, you would need to upgrade to Ultimate or get a separate Game Pass subscription to access the other games from Game Pass unless you already own the games.

@ NashAzie - MGSV is region free so u can get from on-line. BTW I saw a few copies of MGSV at Funz Centre AMK Hub some time back. You can check with them on the availability.

It shouldn't be asking you to for Gold/Game Pass Ultimate for Fortnite since that no longer required Gold, but in order to play online for most games it does require Gold. If you haven't had a subscription yourself, then someone else has and has had that console as their Home console which would have allowed you to share it. You would no longer have access if their subscription ended or they changed their Home console.
