Metro Exodus on Game Pass PC won't run - exe sits there doing nothing

I just subscribed to Game Pass on Windows (Beta), primarily to play Metro Exodus. I installed it, but it won't run - the exe shows up in task manager, but nothing else happens and it's using no CPU.

I installed a different game just to see if Game Pass was working in general, and it runs fine (Opus Magnum by Zachtronics).

This is on my ASUS gaming laptop, which has a GeForce GTX 1060 and 16Gb RAM.

I've updated Windows and my nVidia drivers to the very latest. I've disabled XBox Gamebar, the nVidia in-game overlay, and am not running the GeForce experience.

Clicking the "Play" button seems to do nothing, but you can see the exe in task manager - they just stack up repeatedly every time you click the play button.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks. I saw that thread and was hoping someone might have seen something closer to my issue, which is that it won't even come up. They're no crash or title screen ... just nothing!

This if going to make me very sad, since ms is selling game pass on pc with this game listed. Are people having this problem running Exodus when they buy it through Epic? Or is it just ms?

One more piece to the puzzle - I installed it on my desktop and it works fine.

Also, no when I run it on the laptop, the metro.exe never even starts up. Literally nothing happens when I click play.

One interesting thing I've noticed about this: even though I've disabled Game Bar in settings, when I click "Play" for Metro, the Gamebar.exe starts up in task manager and there are multiple items listed. I don't know if this is relevant but thought I'd
mention it.

I don't play Metro Exodus on the pc, but I did some digging around and it seems to be a common occurrence with the game not running on Windows 10. I'll link you a thread with some ideas, but the general consensus is that right now nothing is fixed until
the developer patches the game.

I think you won't recieve anything if bought it on March. It doesn't mind to me that they added it to Games Pass.. I bought Metro Exodus day one (Aurora Limited Edition).. But it can happen your recently purchased game will be on Game Pass but you won't
do nothing with it, maybe sell your physical copy..
