Metro Exodus Install Location?

Hi,

Do all games that are running at 60 fps on your PC feel like they aren't running at that frame rate or is it just Metro?

Unless you've got a G-Sync or Freesync monitor or a display that can do 120/144Hz, anything over 60 fps is going to need to turn off Vsync which will lead to unsightly screen-tearing. Each to their own.

I think 90 fps is a lot to ask for this game with reasonable settings engaged, config files changed or not. Also, controller support on this title is plain awful, the Epic Games version is no different. If you want responsive controls you need to play this
with a keyboard and mouse.

The Game Pass version is actually not fully optimised, missing Directx 12 support. When I tried it I couldn't engage Ray Tracing on my RTX 2080.

If you really like this game, I recommend buying the Epic Store version.

I can not say for sure if you will be able to successfully change any ini files to get more performance, and the following information I'm providing is to be performed at your own risk.

All games and apps on GamePass and the Windows Store are installed to a hidden folder called WindowsApps. This folder is located in C:\Program Files. If your game is installed on a secondary drive the WindowsApps folder will be in the root directory of the
drive.

Un-hiding this folder won't be enough to change any settings. You'll need to gain access to this folder, how to do this can be found

here.

May I ask what your system specs are and what you are trying to change?

Go into your 'Documents\Saved Games\Metro Exodus' folder and under the saves, you should be able to find a user.cfg file. Edit that and you can input any custom resolution, as well as tweak the r_base_fov setting. The default is 60, but since there's
no multiplayer support, hacking the config file and using a wider FOV isn't cheating and appears fully supported From PC gamer Metro performance analysis article.

Hi,

An i7 1770K? Do you mean a 7700K? If it's indeed the later, that's still a very good CPU, but you'll be limited by the GTX 1060 here. More specifically the small 3GB of VRAM of your graphics card compared to the 'full fat' 1060 6GB model.

That being said, even without changing any configuration settings you should be able to reach a reasonably stable 60 FPS, with quality to set to 'high' at 1080P with a GTX 1060 and a 7th Gen i7.

Yes, I can hit 60, but for some reason on my computer 60 fps does not look good one bit. I need to be hitting at least 90 for it to be reasonably smooth, and trying to hit 90 on this game is hard to do with the lack of customizable settings in-game.
