    Metered Xbox Live (Gold) at a discounted rate


    Attempted to check and see if this was already a topic or not but what about entertaining another Tier of Xbox Live? Why not create a very cost effective "pay as you play" model. Instead of 1, 3, or 12 months at their respective price points, why not a
    "online play only" that is metered (only used while YOU play online) while you play.

    Example - buy 100 hours of online play, gets used as you use it for "online play" at a discounted rate.

    I'm sure there are people that ONLY use Gold for online play only aside from all the other perks associated.

    Just a thought.

    Still think Gold needs to be priced at a more reasonable expense but understand the business side of it all.

    It looks like you bought this almost a year ago. Just know that when you renew for another year of Xbox Live Gold, it will be at the full going rate and not discounted.

    Hi I tried to renew my Xbox live subscription from my console at a discounted rate and got error message 801500A. When I went to my account renew from my laptop I don't have the option of that discount. Can you help me renew without therror message and can

    Gold Family Pack discounts and membership extensions

    If you currently have an Xbox LIVE Gold Membership, you will get a discount on your Gold Family Pack membership based on how many months remain on your existing Gold Membership.

    The discount varies by region, and is calculated by first taking the price of an Xbox LIVE Gold 12-month membership divided by 12 months (Gold monthly rate). The Gold Family Pack discount that you receive is the Gold monthly rate, multiplied by the number of
    months left on your existing Gold membership (rounded up to the next full month), then subtracted from your purchase price.

    However, you can occasionally find on the Dashboard special offers of discounted Live memberships - or free codes in select games - that will allow you to get Gold at a cheaper rate.
