Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Hi, Sorry for my bad English..

I can't play Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom pain in Xbox 360 with USB FLASH DRIVE

What game are you trying to play? Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Is it a disc or downloaded version? Disc original

What type of console are you using? Xbox 360 Arcade

What size HDD are you using? Not HDD

What error code or message are you receiving? The game needs Internal Hard Drive

The official page of konami says: "You can install Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes to an Xbox 360 hard drive or USB flash drive (sold separately) on Xbox 360."

    Thanks, bye.

    :)

    Iuqy95akd,

How much free space do you have on your USB flash drive? The official page also states:

"On the Xbox 360, in order to help you through your missions, a hard drive with up to 1.7GB free is required for the initial installation. Additional requirements are 192KB to save your game, and up to 256MB of free hard drive space for system updates
and additional storage for some game features. Storage requirements are subject to change.
    "

So this leads me to believe you would need a flash drive with at least 1.957 GB free. If you are attempting to use an empty 2 GB flash drive, there may not be enough room as it may only show 1.86 GB of actual free space. You should be able to verify this
by viewing your settings>storage on your console. Can you verify what USB drive you are using and how much free space is shown in the storage pre or post install? Thanks,

Hi, thanks for your answer. My USB Drive is 4GB Kingston, actual free space 3.57GB, but i tried with external HDD 465GB and not work.

    Thanks for your time, bye.

  6. I don't have MGS V, but if the initial installation is required to play, shouldn't there be 1.7 GB less of free space on the storage device (flash drive)? So are you having a problem doing the initial install?

One other thing you can try is clearing the system cache 3 times then rebooting. Just follow these steps:

    Clear System Cache:

    1) Scroll right and go to the Settings tab, and then select System Settings

    2) Select Hard Drive

    3) Highlight Hard Drive, and press Y (Device Options)

    4) Select Clear System Cache and select Yes

    5) Repeat steps 2 thru 4 two more times so that your Cache is cleared 3 times

*NOTE* The cache stores such items as game updates, system update installation packages, and gamer pictures of your friends. Clearing the Xbox 360 cache does not remove your Gamertag, content that you have downloaded, game files,
    or console software updates.

Turn off your console and start it back up.

    Let us know your results.

MGS V has 2 disc like GTA V.

Yes, I have a problem with the initial installation. The disc 1 (disc installation) says "No internal hard drive detected".Just I try clearing the cache system but still not working.

So it appears that it may not be seeing the flash drive. Did you format the USB Flash Drive to a FAT32 on your PC first? If you haven't done this, put the flash drive into your computer, open up “My computer” (or press the Windows key + E), then right click
on the flash drive device, and select “Format.” Format the USB flash drive to FAT32. Or verify that it is in fact still FAT32 format. If not, run through the formatting process again.

Keep in mind that formatting the drive will wipe any data on the drive. So make sure to save any files you need before formatting it.

I try to format the USB flash drive to FAT32 from Windows and then use it on the console but still not working.

    I think Konami lies..

Thanks for your time, I appreciate the attempt.

Unfortunately, Ground Zeroes does not work with USB flash drives.

I think that's the problem with this game as well.... (The Phantom Pain) but I'm not sure. What I do know is that the Digital version of the game requires 12.5 GB of free space.

  12. Has anybody found a solution for this yet? I have 3gb of free internal space, and 20gb of space on an external drive that Iv'e been using for GTAV and several other games for years. Do I need to reformat everything to get it to "see" a drive?

    Hey there SpheredRiver743.

Be sure you're using internal storage, as external storage won't work for this particular game. This thread is quite a bit older, so I'll be locking it, but please create a new thread if you'd like to continue troubleshooting.
