messaging code but no phone

hi I'm having a problem where when I try to send messages it says "messaging isn't working for your account" then it tells me to go to a website when im at the website there's a link where I enter my number to send a code but I
don't have a phone for the code... is there a way I can use my email or a employee at Microsoft can help me...

Message don’t work.

Same here. Spent an hour online with XBOX support but no success. They suggested I had a "blocker" of some kind on my iPhone. There are no settings either on the phone or in my privacy setting for Xbox that seem to prevent messaging. Besides, it works
fine on the console or in Windows 10 on my browser. If it was an XBOX account privacy setting I am assuming it would prevent messaging on all platforms.

Can you go to Sign in to your Microsoft account and change your cellphone number to a phone number that you have access to? You can (and should) also add secondary email addresses.

And if you have a smartphone, you should also consider enabling Two Step Verification and setting up the Authenticator app. That way, you don't need a phone or internet connection, because the app can always provide you a security code to sign in.

Also, as an added security measure, a hacker would have to actually steal your phone to get into your account with that setup.

A verification code will ordinarily be sent to the phone number that you provide when you create the account.

Does the number in the "We have sent the code to +4457..." message match the phone number you provided, or is it completely different?

Well, if you don't have a Smartphone, Two Step Verification also works via text messages to a standard cell phone, an automated call to a normal phone with a female robotic voice telling you the code, or a second email address, where the code is sent to.

Are you able to redeem the code via the xbox app on a phone or pc/laptop?

I've had the exact same message trying to redeem 2 game codes on the console but am able to redeem them via my phone.
