"Try again - we had trouble getting your conversations"

That is the error message I get on the messages tab in the Xbox app on my Windows 10 desktop pc. The message page at Xbox.com hasn't worked for going on two months. I can access my messages on the app that is on my Android phone, and I can access them on my
    Xbox.

    :)

    Unable to send message

I have been unable to send messages on my Xbox and the Xbox mobile app for two months now. I have tried going to the security settings for my account and nothing has changed. Any suggestions?

  3. Can't load my messages in the app

    Hey PPRLRicciardo,

You said your messages aren't loading on the Xbox app, but are they loading on the Xbox? Can you see them on Xbox.com?

    Thanks,

Messages on Xbox app aren't loading for two days now, Xbox.com website for going on two months ...

    Hi,

A corrupted profile data or a server error are usually one of the reasons why you are experiencing this issue. We need you to answer the following questions so we can gain a better understanding of your concern:

    • Have you tried signing in your account to the Xbox app on a different Windows 10 device and check if the same instance occurs?
    • Have you tried signing in a different account to the Xbox app and check if the same instance occurs?
    • Have you made any changes on your Windows 10 device prior to this case?

In the meantime, perform the following solutions that can help resolve your concern with the Xbox app on your Windows 10 computer:

Solution 1: Run the troubleshooter for Windows apps

    Check out this
    page
and follow the prompts on your screen.

Solution 2: Check for updates for apps and games from Windows Store

    Click this
    link
    and perform the steps provided.

Solution 3: Check your device for Windows software and driver updates

To check for the latest updates for your Windows 10-based device, perform the instructions provided

    here
    .

Solution 4: Sign in as a different user

    1. Press the Windows button on your device or keyboard, or select the Windows icon from the bottom-left corner of the main screen.
    2. Select your account name from the top-left corner of the menu, and then select Switch account.
    3. Sign in with an account other than the one you were using.
    4. Access the Xbox app and check if it now works correctly.

Solution 5: Uninstall and reinstall the Xbox app

    1. Type Windows Powershell in the search box.
    2. Right click Windows Powershell and select Run as administrator.
    3. Copy and paste the following command: get-appxpackage Microsoft.XboxApp | remove-appxpackage
    4. Press Enter.

Restart your Windows 10 device to refresh and sync all changes made. Then, download and install the Xbox app

    here
and check if it works correctly this time.

  5. I'm having the same issue across many Windows 10 devices. Although clearing the App Data works for a few hours, as soon as I receive another message the problem comes back. This is happening on my Desktop, Laptop, Tablet and phone. I have also tried fresh
installs on my phone and desktop of the OS and still the issue persists. Not only that but it's also happening in the Beta Xbox apps too.

    Hi,

We'd like to determine if you were able to perform all the solutions provided beforehand and check if the same instance occurs.

Also, if you have any third-party antivirus programs installed on your device, disable it. Make sure to restart your device to sync all changes made and check if the Xbox app works correctly.

  7. The issue appears to have been fixed after uninstalling and reinstalling the app. I did every step before reaching the step that suggested this. I've also included all of my steps and results below, including an error, in case it is helpful for
devs to prevent this from happening to users:

Have you tried signing in your account to the Xbox app on a different Windows 10 device and check if the same instance occurs?

I can send messages on my phone app and my Windows 10 laptop

Have you tried signing in a different account to the Xbox app and check if the same instance occurs?

Same thing occurs on my desktop pc when I log in with a different account.

Have you made any changes on your Windows 10 device prior to this case?

The only changes that would have been made is Windows updates, which I don't keep track of.

Solution 1: Run the app troubleshooter ...

    Ran troubleshooter, got this popup:

Messages on Xbox app aren't loading for two days now, Xbox.com website for going on two months ... [IMG]

Solution 2: Check for app updates ...

    No updates needed

Solution 3: Check your device for Windows software and driver updates

Even though I have updates set to auto update, there are some updates. I've installed them and restarted pc, but issues continue.

Solution 4: Sign in as a different user

App still does not work on my desktop pc when I log in as a different user.

Solution 5: Uninstall and reinstall the Xbox app

Uninstalled the Xbox app using the instructions listed above, restarted pc and it seems to be working. Interestingly I was still logged into app.

Notes: Messages loading still hangs on my apps across all three pcs/smart phone, especially when clicking on someone's profile and electing to send a message from there (it can take quite some time for their name to appear at the top of the message popup
so you can type the message).

PS: the messages page at Xbox.com continues not to work. This is especially inconvenient for users to find each other from such websites as destinylfg.com and destinylfg.net, as there are links to send people messages on Xbox so that they may connect and
    play.

  10. Nope, not fixed. Jumped through every single hoop yesterday, all the answers are in this thread of what I did and the results. It appeared to be fixed yesterday after reinstalling, but the issue persists: I cannot send messages through the Xbox app.

Here is what the error message looks like when I attempt to send messages via the app:

  11. As for the Xbox.com message system, I have been reporting this for the last two months on Twitter, I've spoken with phone support about it
where they were able to duplicate the issue of messages not working on Xbox.com. I was told then that it was forwarded to "the tech team".
That was February 21st, and the issue had already been happening 1-2weeks. The last time I checked in on Twitter,
March 6th, I was told that it is something that is "currently being looked into at this time by the proper teams." On
April 5th I contacted them once again and requested they tell their manager and ask them to tell THEIR manager and up until something is done, as it appears it is not being dealt with. They asked if I was part of the preview program, which
I am, so they linked me to these forums to post it up here.

Here is a copy/paste from the original Twitter convo of my answers to their questions:

    * Gamertag:

    * Device you're seeing the issue on: PC, one has Win 10, one Win 7 same thing both pc's

    * Specific error codes and/or messages: Usually the page just shows the spinning loading gif, but sometimes I will get a popup that says "An error has occurred, please try again later"

    * Detailed summary of the issue: Messages page will not load on Xbox.com.

    * What steps have you tried: I've tested it on two different pc's, and I've tried accessing that page on three different browsers: Firefox, Google, Internet Explorer

On phone support, I logged into a different account and could see my messages, then logged back into my primary account and continued to not be able to see my messages. My settings are definitely not set to hide any of my info, we've already been through
    all of that.

On a possibly related issue, in Halo 5, my screenshots will show up on my Xbox dashboard, but they are not accessible when I attempt to link them to my Halo 5 Forge maps. They simply do not show up at all. I am curious if others like me who are experiencing
this issue can also not access their messages at Xbox.com. This has also been occurring for many weeks, and is also happening to other users.

This is the url it is taking me to, in case it is helpful: Sign in to your Microsoft account

Here is a screenshot of what I see. Occasionally messages will load in the background of that semi-opaque layer, but they are from a couple months ago. I have received and sent upwards of 200 messages since, because I help run several gaming communities.

I've already done the chat support, that is where it was verified that they were able to reproduce the issue. My account is fine, I don't know why you made me step through that hoop. All it did was resign me into my account, which I already have to be signed
in to in order to type this post :/

  14. Also, as stated before, I can send messages on my Xbox One just fine.

This morning I logged into the Xbox app with a separate gamertag, and the messages won't load on that gamertag either.

I then logged into that separate gamertag and went to Xbox.com, and the messages loaded.

    Hot. Mess.

The purpose of why we had you sign in to the links provided beforehand is to check if your Microsoft account needs to update its security information and verify the status of its reputation.

We'd like to check if the you're still currently experiencing issues with accessing your account's messages in the Xbox app on your Windows 10 device. Usually, this is caused by a server issue from Xbox Live or poor Internet connection. If you have a different
network, try connecting your Windows to it and check if the same instance occurs.

Make sure to check the Xbox Live status
    page
from time to time for any service alerts on all platforms.
