    Messages not synced between Xbox app, console and Xbox.com


    Often messages are not synced up with the app. For example, I might have 5 conversations going and I can see them all via the console and Xbox.com, but when I fire up the Xbox app I might only see 2 of them. Sometimes messages are missing from conversations
    in the Xbox app, but not on the console or website. Often when I delete conversations via the console/website, when I fire up the Xbox app, they're still there. Likewise if I delete conversations via the app - when I look on my console or via Xbox.com, they
    haven't been deleted.

    I tend to delete messages after reading/responding to them, so I keep my inbox clean. Here's a screenshot showing the current state of it: -

    On the left you can see that I have 2 messages when I go to Xbox.com, but the Xbox app shows nothing.

    This has been going on for weeks now and affects both the beta and non-beta versions of the app.

    Issues with messages and the friends list

    Conversations are not being properly synced across the console/Xbox.com and the app. Sometimes I have active conversations going on the console. I log into Xbox.com and go to Messages and all of my conversations show up there, but when I fire up the Xbox
    app it says I have no messages/conversations. Sometimes it does show some conversations, while others are missing, so I might have 4 conversations going via the console, but when I fire up the Xbox app, only 2 show up there. I'm fairly sure that this only
    affects the beta version of the app, not the non-beta version.

    Often when I fire up the app it says "We are unable to show your friends list at the moment. Try refreshing the app.", however, when I hit the refresh button the same error message immediately pops back up. If I quit the app and relaunch it, again, the same
    error message immediately pops up in place of my friends list. I have to quit the app and leave it for a while, and then when I launch it it will usually work. This affects both the beta and non-beta versions of the apps.

    Also, you still have not fixed the issue with all friends sometimes showing as offline, then each online friend appearing in the "Online" section 1 at a time every few seconds.

    Account related: "It appears you've found a glitch in the system" on live.xbox.com

    I'm having the same issue for the past two days as well, and the account.xbox.com/messages link yield the same result.

    Not only on xbox.com, when I click the Messages tab on Xbox (Beta) app on Windows 10 devices (PC and phones), the app crashes. The only way I can view messages is on consoles.

    There is a slighly delay between xbox.com and on the console. Try to test your connection to Xbox LIVE, that should sync it again. If that doesn't work, recover your gamertag and it should be good to go.

    Test your connection to Xbox LIVE. That should re-sync your account as there is a delay between xbox.com and on the Xbox.

    Or you can recover your account.

    Try clearing your browser cache and cookies or try another web browser altogether. Sometimes the transition between the account on your console and the account on xbox.com can be out of sync and can cause problems like this.

    Are you able to send messages via Xbox.com or the Xbox app? Check that first. If not, are you sure your account hasn't been limited because of an enforcement action? You can check here: -

    If the issue only affects the console and messaging is working fine via Xbox.com or the Xbox app, then try the following steps in turn, checking to see if messaging works after each one: -

    1. Shut your console down, pull the power to it for 30 seconds or so, then fire it back up and see if that fixes it.

    2. Remove your profile from the console and re-add it. This will delete your local saves, but as long as your console has been connected to Live when you've been using it, your saves will be backed up in the cloud and will sync automatically as you launch
    each game/app.

    3. Do a factory reset, choosing the option to keep your games/apps installed. This will delete your local saves (which will sync, as mentioned above) and, depending on what settings you use, you may have to re-enter some info, such as custom network settings
    or the name of your Xbox (if you changed it). It's a pretty painless process overall though.
