Messages not appearing

So my messages won't load. Basically when I hover above my messages tab, it says "We weren't able to get your messages. Please try again later" it's been like this for a while and I've tried everything to get it to load then but it still won't work. Can
anyone help me figure out what to do?

Hello, I recently was playing on my Xbox One and I received a message from another player that. We had already started an "Conversation" with so I could display our messages, I clicked on our "Conversation" and no new message yet I got an notification that
had one from that player and I received multiple messages from that person yet it said I had no new messages but only 1 time notifications. Then I clicked onto our conversation again yet we had no messages on it neither did any of my other conversations have
any text, I can send a one time message and they receive it yet I cannot read my message or their reply. I simply cannot message people or receive messages, Oh and one more note I came on my laptop and went to my messages on my account on here and it said
something like there was an error so currently I have no messages on Xbox live.

Hello - have you recently gotten a message regarding your Call of Duty Elite subscription? If so, can you try deleting that message and let us know the results?

Are you able to view them on the Xbox app on Windows 10 or on Xbox.com? Give that a try and see if it works. Also, are you in the preview program? If you are and this doesn't work try posting in the forums there and official support will investigate the
issue and offer more troubleshooting tips

Im also having this same issue for a week now cant read messages but i can send them and my friends recieve them and when i get messages i get notifications but cant see messages would love some help asap

I'm also having this issue. I can check my messages from the website but it keeps saying on my Xbox one I have a message when I've cleared them all. Getting kind of frustrating, it happened after I randomly lost connection and went offline one time. Tried
a hard reset and everything.

Try doing a hard reset by holding the power button on the front of the console until it turns off then unplug the power brick from the console and the outlet for 5 minutes then plug everything back in and power back on.

If that doesn't work then you could try a console reset as a last resort. go to settings, all settings, console and update info then select reset console. Choose to keep everything and your console will restart and go through a small set up again and will
have you sign in. After your back on the home screen try the messages again.

why do we need to get them on the app how about you fix it as you broke it just like Microsoft Edge when you play video it breaks sick of paying for a broken service

Im having an almost same issue so when i go to my messages and all that i click to type a response but it dosent pop up the textbox plz explain how to fix this ....also if i hold down the button to pull up the screen to restart or turn off the controller
or shut down it dosent pop up the screen

Your Xbox console may benefit from a power cycle.

How to perform a power cycle:

Turn off your console by holding the Xbox button on the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds. The console will turn off.

Turn your console back on by pressing the Xbox button on the console or the Xbox
button on your controller.

Note If you don't see the green boot-up animation when the console restarts, repeat these steps. Make sure that you hold the power button until the console completely shuts down.
