Messages from friends list only option

I'm so sorry that you are experiencing something like this within XBOX. We as Ambassadors try to promote good will within the gaming community but unfortunately there are those that sometimes take the game too seriously and harsh words are thrown out
there. Even though you do have a friends list and favorite friends list within XBOX, that doesn't prevent others from leaving you messages. When this happens, if they are sending hateful or harassing messages to you, report the message, block them and just
ignore them. Don't let them ruin your XBOX experience! Remember, it's only a game and not to be taken to the point that being hateful should be part of any community!

Try turning off notifications. This should make those players less bothersome and if you keep getting bombarded with messages just block them

If you have you privacy settings set correctly, then you can only receive message from friends only.

A. Press the Xbox button in the middle of the controller

B. Go to system tab

C. Select settings

D. Select account

E. Select privacy and online safety

F. Select Xbox Live privacy

G. Select view details & customize

H. Select Multiplayer and communication (find the setting that asks from who to receive invites, texts, etc.. set to Friends only)

You should probably go through the rest of the settings to see what other ways you can avoid contact with people who are not on your friends list.

As Honda Man 04 explained above, this would be the best available option.

Please note:

• Messages you receive from friends and other people you’ve exchanged messages with will appear among your chats.
• New messages from people not already on your friends list will appear under
  Message requests.

Although technically you are still receiving messages from people not on your friends list, they are separated into a different folder. Making it very easy to ignore and/or delete without having to actually read them.

Block and report people that are sending you the messages you do not want to receive. Online spaces are difficult to control what others do.

You can go intp privacy settings and control who sends you messages and restrict it to your friends list. Then you will not receive bad messages however you wont receive the good ones either.

i agree, those types of people shouldn't be allowed to do that, its negative and toxic and that doesn't have a place in gaming, those people should be banned.
