messages about free gold pass son followed instructions and now Xbox won't work

while my 8 yr old was playing GTA5 tonite he received message that said go to messages then view profile and tap A and B buttons fast and you can get free gold membership and while doing this screen turned blue Xbox comes on but doesn't seem to do
anything I have no clue what he's done ANYONE? AND YES I let my 8 yr old play GTA5 online

Seriously fed up!!!!!!!!!!!

My son still cannot log into x box live despite having gold membership....I've followed every instruction, thread etc going and nothing works! I've spent hours trying to resolve this and am seriously fed up now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How is the console connected to the TV? Via HDMI or composite cable?

Can you try connecting via composite or make sure the the connection is secure?

I have read that if you hold Y and the right trigger on the controller when you turn on the console it may reset the screen settings on the console but I can't confirm that it will work or not.

Can you try hooking the console to another TV to see if the same thing happens?

If all else fails you may need to send the console in for a repair.

Finally, you only need one thread per issue. I would recommend not allowing your 8 year old to play GTA5 for a while as it really is for adults only (extreme language and violence).

Followed the instructions but it still isn't working. I keep trying to re-join game pass but still get the same message.

Wait: xbox live messages for me (and i am a gold and game pass subscriber) are always free stuff, free codes or general info about updates. Never ever advertisment for their product.

As others have said, you just need to set Son 2's Xbox One as Son 1's Home Xbox, doing this will mean that only son 1 will need an Xbox Live Gold subscription for them both to enjoy Gold.

Be sure to follow the
instructions here to set up the Home Xbox.

Thanks for all the replies but it still won't work. I followed all the instructions and it won't let him sign in on his windows live id. He can sign in any other time, just not on the gold family pack. Any suggestions?
