Discus and support message to download the media player on xbox one in XBoX on Consoles to solve the problem; i received a message tonight from xbox preview dashboard to download the media player but when i opened the message i accidently deleted the message...     i received a message tonight from xbox preview dashboard to download the media player but when i opened the message i accidently deleted the message which had the link for and was wondering if i could receive another

    xbox one not able to stream video off of my Windows based pc!?

    You can remotely connect your One to your PC as well if you download the Media Player app on the console.

    The USB comment was an alternative way to get the download over searching for it on the marketplace.

    Here is an FAQ about it
    support.xbox.com/.../media-player-faq    .

    It took a while for the One to catch up with the 360 on DNLA but its almost there.

    Media Player App unavailable

    I am unable to download the Media Player app on my Xbox one.

    While I am already confused as to why I have to download support for a feature prebuilt into my Xbox 360, I am even more perplexed as to why it is currently unavailable in the store. Repeated attempts to download this have all lead to repeated messages of
    the App being unavailable. Any thoughts?

    If you go into the Preview Dashboard app, find the Quest that relates to using the app and there should be a download link within there.

    Xbox One - My Home Theater Device: Perks and Consequences

    Windows Media Player already installed in Windows 7 (or a free download if you have the N version). Xbox One Media Player to play that content. You can control all playback functions with Kinect.

    Alternatively purchase NAS with built in media server. Use Xbox One's Media Player to playback content. Use Kinect to control playback.

    Buy a media remote if you don't have Kinect.

    You seem to be adding needlessly complex steps to your media playback.

    Sorry to hear about the Media Player app issues, I can definitely understand how frustrating that could be. There was a recent service alert that my have caused issues if you were trying to install the Media Player app, but this issue has been resolved.
    If you are experiencing issues with the Media Player losing connection, please go ahead and create a new thread. This way you can receive support specifically tailored to you. In the meantime, try Uninstalling and

    Media Player Not showing MKV files.

    There are no warnings or error messages.

    When I select all video's in the Media Player App, it shows all my videos on my media server apart from the mkv videos.

    I know there are mkv videos on the media server, but the Xbox Media Player App doesn't show them.

    EDIT- I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Media Player App. That didn't solve the problem.
