    When I insert a backward compatible 360 disc into my Xbox One S, I get an error message stating the game is not b/w compatible, despite the fact that I have played these same games on this same console before. I was away from this console for 4 months, and
    this has been happening since my return. Downloaded 360 games play fine. 3 calls to Xbox customer service have not been successful. Anybody have any ideas about how I can fix this? Thanks.

    Mafia II Backwards Compatible now??

    Hello, today Mafia II came on Backwards Compatible and is now released for the xbox one and i have the Original Game on the xbox 360 but when i put the disc in the xbox one, i get the message that the game mafia II isn't playable for the Xbox One and i need
    to check the list for the 360 games that are compatible. Is this an error???

    I got loads of xbox 360 games on cd rom disc and they are not working for backwards compatibility even though these games are on the official list of backwards compatible games. What is wrong? I read online that xbox 360 games on disc are also supposed
    to be backwards compatible with xbox one.

    As the others already stated, make sure that the Xbox 360 game disc you're inserting is actually backwards compatible, as not all Xbox 360 games are playable on the One yet!

    For a
    list of backwards compatible Xbox 360 titles     check this list here. If the game is not on the list, it won't work on the One.

    Since the Xbox 360 game discs are based on the DVD format, try to play a DVD movie disc on your console. If the movie DVD disc isn't recognized either, it might be that the red laser of your Xbox One console is defective, and the drive has to be serviced.

    If you own the disc of a supported 360 game for backwards compatibility you can insert the disc that will trigger the download for the game, when installed you can play that speed game as long as the disc is inserted

    Hi Emerson,

    Original Xbox games were backwards compatible on Xbox 360's for quite awhile when the Xbox 360 was in it's prime by simply putting in the disc but I don't think backwards compatibility on the Xbox 360 works as well as it used to since backwards compatibility
    has moved on to the Xbox One. The Xbox One can play Xbox original games by simply putting in the disc or you can buy digital licenses.

    You can try inserting a disc into your Xbox 360 and see if it works but it may not be supported anymore.

    Hi,

    No, that's not how it works.

    GTA IV is a backwards compatible game. When you insert the disc the console will prompt you for an update (the update is actually the digital download).

    To play a disc based Xbox 360 game on your Xbox One you'll still need to insert the disc to launch the game and prove ownership.

    I'm trying to play Fallout 3 on my Xbox One, but when I insert the disc nothing happens or I eventually get an error message that the disc in not compatible with Xbox One. The game runs fine on my Xbox 360. The same thing happens with Mass Effect.

    same with me my xbo games work but no 360 games or dvds.
