MediaPlayer shuts down X1 when playing video files

    MediaPlayer shuts down X1 when playing video files


    Hi

    Put some mp4 and m2ts files on a usb drive today and play with MediaPlayer app - and xbox just shuts down at the end of some.

    Screen goes black, and takes 10s or so and you here it shuts down.

    So is it a known thing, or?

    One thing if app exits or something, but shutting down console?

    Like breaking the machine.

    These files play just fine on various players on pc.

    Are there some updates on this?

    Mp4 behaves well on 360 - but crashes and shuts X1 down

    MP4 as file on usb drive and video player.

    Certain things 360 does not like in the video about format and just puts up a dialog saying so.

    So at least it behaves well, no crashes or anything.

    But X1 it just do a black screen and shuts down - same file.

    What kind of programming is that?

    I bought X1 so I thought I would get a good enough HD player, but seems good for nothing.

    Same video files play just fine on various players on pc.

    Seems I have to sell off X1 and buy a standalone blueray player instead.

    The mediaplayer which will support external USB devices is coming with the September update to Xbox One. It will support external USB 2.0 devices with audio and movie files.

    Looking at X1 I would keep expectations low.

    I thought I could use X1 for bluray player and media player - but apps have been so buggy and simply shutting console down and things like that. Playing some media at wrong speed is another strange flaw.

    And you have no settings which are common on mediaplayers, delay to audio to make lipsync on screen are missing in X1 so far.

    So I bought a standalone bluray player to play my videos as well as commercial media like films etc.

    No, it was not. I wanna keep my new dashboard, but now the mediaplayer doesn't reconize my hard drive full of video's? Will there be an new update for it or what?

    Same for you sir, I feel like the hackers are going to have a field day when X1 launches. Have fun having a console that you can't even play single player on because someone hacked the database and shut it down.
