One of the reasons I recently purchased an XBOX One was to replace my aged media streamer (Western Digital Plus). I have an external 1GB USB 2.0 HD that works great from the western digital and my Windows 8.1 PC.

when I connect the HD to the XBOX one, I receive " "No Files Found. We couldn't find any photos, videos, or music in this folder". Remove the HD back to WD and PC and all is fine. If I copy video's to usb stick and move to xbox one, all
    is fine....

What's up? I see many other xbox one users experiencing the same problem.

I hope to see this resolved soon. Great device, but disappointed with this. If MS wants my living room, this needs to be fixed.

    :)

    Media Files Not Found

The Media Player app is finding my PC (Windows 8.1), but when I select it, it is not finding anything. It displays "No Files Found. We couldn't find any photos, videos, or music in this folder."

What folder is it looking for?

ya.... this is pretty bad! I expect a company like Microsoft to offer decent support. Anything would have been better than the silence received..... Disappointing. I'll be sure to share if I find a better place to post.

My Series X no longer recognises my Samsung T5 external SSD for media. Help!

My Series X updated itself two nights ago (23rd of August), and since then, the external media hard drive I'd been using since I'd had an Xbox One has stopped working. The Xbox can see that it's plugged in, but it says there are no files on it.

I've been using the Samsung T5 2GB external SSD. I've never had a problem with it until now. I turned on my Xbox this morning and went to watch a movie from the SSD in Films & TV. The drive appeared as 'Local Disk (D:)' (instead of the name it has), and the app said 'There aren't any videos in this folder.'

I tried Microsoft's Media Player app after that. The drive shows up as 'USB: Local Disk (D:)', but when I enter into it, Media Player says 'No files found. We couldn't find photos, videos or music in this folder.'

The day before, neither app had any issues finding any of the photos, videos or music on that drive. In Windows 10, the drive still works, and all the files are visible.

I read some FAQs. I tried reformatting the SSD to NTFS from exFAT, and moving some movies/pictures onto it, but I still get the same errors.

I tried the 'reset' option on my Series X in settings, and I still get the same errors - Films & TV says there aren't any videos on it, Media Player says no files found. Every Windows 10 pc I've tested the drive on recognises the media on the SSD, so it's still working.

Can anybody help? I bought this external SSD purely to use as a media storage device for my console so I could watch my old stuff on it, and it's been working fine since I got the console 8 months ago, and before that with the Xbox One.

Any help or ideas would be awesome!
I am having the exact same problem. I have a Samsung T5 External SSD that was working fine as a media drive until I turned on my console and it updated. Now it doesn't see any files or folders even though they are there. I transferred everything off and reformatted but nothing works. I tested with a USB thumb drive and it sees files on that but it will no longer work with my external SSD. I'm glad it's not just me.
