Media Streaming keeps turning off

Ok I was told over in the windows community windows insider program to post my question here. So here it is

Hello

I was trying to stream a video from my PC to my Xbox 360 and the media streaming was turned off. I turned it on set my xbox to allowed, went to my xbox in the app section for the system video player app. I see my pc there and click on it I get a "message
Can't connect. Make sure you have activated this console on your computer" I then right click on the video on my PC and click cast to and my xbox is there but nothing happens. Not sure what to do know. I found an older post for media streaming for win 7

Check and make sure that the Windows media player network sharing service is running on the computer.

a) Click Start, click Run, type services.msc in the Open text box, and then click OK.

b) In the Services (Local) list, right-click Windows media player network sharing, and then click Properties.

c) Make sure that the service is started and startup type is set to Automatic.

When I check this my Windows media player network sharing was on Automatic (Delayed Start). I changed it to Automatic and it keeps changing back. Then when I check media streaming it is turned off again.

Every time i restart the pc media streaming is turned off. I have tried every thing from restarting network,PC and xbox no luck

:)

having trouble setting up windows media center.

Just out of curiosity and for arguments sake I tried turning Media streaming off and then setting up my 360 as an WMC Extender and it worked just fine. Also, Media streaming has remained off after the setup completed. The WMC service works just fine on my
console.

The long and short is that you do NOT need Media streaming to be turned on in order to use your Xbox 360 as a WMC Extender.

Seeing how you "Tried" testing it, did you tune your media connection in Windows Media Center & see what the quality was & if "Network Discovery" was on in Advanced Sharing Settings in Control Panel..??

Also, be a champ & elaborate to everyone, how you Tried to turn Media Streaming off..????
I didn't try to tune the media connection or anything. I loaded up the app, saw my library refresh (it was something like 8,000 items) and tried out a couple songs.

Turning off Media streaming is simple really. All you have to do is click the Block All button in Media streaming options and it's disabled.

Yeah, you are right on it being visually turned off, when you block it in Network and Sharing, But the Media Center Extender uses it's own software, that installs & uses a secondary sub-script via Media Streaming & it shows in the Registry & has it's own
CLSID + it is active in Services... Once you click turn Media Streming On, it will show the Xbox360 Media Extender & you Cannot remove the Extender while you are connected to Windows Media Center on your Xbox360... So it is using the Media Streaming Function
from Windows Media Player etc.. Leaving Media Streaming Turned on will quicken the search time in the registry...
Windows streaming is "Visually" turned off on Windows 7 & it works in the background with the Windows Media Center Driver Installation & all the driver does, is tell the Media Streaming Utility that Windows Media Center is Streaming
& not Windows Media Player..
Irrelevant.
Because, as I've mentioned before, Windows Media Player is used in the PC's Windows Media Center Application...
Still irrelevant.
You can check your Advanced Network & Sharing Settings & see
if the WMC Extender is active in the Media Streaming option...
If for some reason it is enabled, it can be disabled by setting Block All. Next time the control panel is opened it will show that Media Streaming is turned off. This doesn't change anything
for Windows Media Center Extender.
That's why I said to look there & you all argue over it...
We checked. It can be disabled without impacting Extender functionality.
You can't stream Audio to your Xbox Music Player while playing games online
either, if you are using the dedicated Windows Media Center Application & you have to exit WMC to play games on the Xbox360...
This, as well as the rest of your post, is also irrelevant for the topic at hand.
