    Media Remote

How do I set my media remote to control the volume on my TV? It works fine for everything else (guide, back, etc.).

My system is already set to control my TV so I figure there must be something really basic that I'm missing here...

    :)

  3. Having trouble getting the new Xbox 360 Media Remote to work with my Xbox 360 console.

    Update to my last post:

If you have the current version of the Xbox 360 Dashboard, follow this command path -- System Settings > Console Settings > Remote Control

You will see 2 options listed: "Both Remotes" (allows you to use either the Xbox 360 Media Remote or a Windows Media Center Remote) and "Xbox 360 Media Remote" (sets the system to accept input from only an Official Xbox 360 Media Remote, or an Officially Licensed
3rd party equivalent.) Make sure your system is set to "Xbox 360 Media Remote" then exit out of the System Settings menus and try the remote again.

I hope that helps. Media Remote :)

    Media Remote

I noticed it takes a few clicks to make it work; which is unacceptable.

Would love to hear from Microsoft regarding the acknowledgement of this issue.

I have the same problem., this is crazy. If I use verbal commands the sound works instantly and meanwhile using the media remote takes like 20 presses to hope it will work. Does anyone know if this is a software or hardware problem?

Seriously, you would think it's the most basic thing to have tested before release.

Having the exact same issue, very frustrating. Every button on the Xbox One Media Remote works perfect except for Volume Up/Down and Mute. Note, I have gotten it to work with 1 foot range of the console! Also pointing the remote straight down at the floor
for some reason works. How does every other button work from the couch work except for the Volume/Mute? Just got this remote today and already about to return it. Super disappointed in the quality control of everything related to Xbox One, the console itself
(already on 2nd due to loud squeaky fan), the OS/UI, my controllers are coming apart at the seams... About to sell it all and buy a PS3 as a media player at this point.

I have a solution for the audio control problem. In the audio setting menu you must set the audio that you aren't using to off (either optical or hdmi audio) I am using the optical out and once I set the hdmi to off the vollume control works perfectly.

It doesn't appear to be an isolated remote issue; I exchanged mine for a brand new unopened remote from Best Buy. Brought it home and tried again, the issue still exists for Volume Up/Down and Mute.

This would lead me to believe the issue is:

    -A widespread remote problem/bug

    -Console/Kinect IR receiver

    -Console location configuration

Is everyone experiencing this issue or only in select cases??

Does anyone else have to point the remote directly at their system as if they're aiming a gun for it to work? I haven't had to do that since my child hood TV. My 360 remote I got 10 years ago worked much more efficiently.

Jesus. How can one company put out so much faulty crap? A 30 dollar media remote that can't control volume. What is the point?

I think I have the same or similar issue. What's weird is that my Philips HTL2160 soundbar works great using the Kinect voice volume commands but not with the Media Remote. If I use the volume button on the remote my soundbar blinks like something is happening,
but the volume never changes. Yet, the mute button on the remote works fine. Again, the voice commands work fine for volume. Weird. Anyone find a solution?

  15. Yeah, here's a solution: stand 6 inches from your xbox and point it at the xbox and press volume up. Oh? That kind of makes the use of a remote pointless? Really?

If you can't tell, I hate Micosoft for trapping me into a "buy more crap/spend more money/waste-more-time and it will work" death spiral. Me and my apartment mates all bought XB1s and all three of us regret it. It can't be coincidence can it?
