  1. Media Remote Volume/Mute Buttons

I have an Xbox One Media Remote and I love it. Tonight with the help of a friends phone that has an IR blaster, I was able to actually find the working IR code for my TV so that it can be controlled with Kinect. I selected the TV out the list after searching
for the brand (my TV isn't in the list but the TV the app found is basically just a bigger version of mine). It worked flawlessly. I am able to power on, power off, change volume and mute my TV with Kinect voice commands.

Now, the media remote on the other hand does NOT work properly. All of the buttons on the media remote work perfectly no matter where I point it, except the volume and mute buttons. No matter how close or far I am and if I point it at the Kinect or directly
at the Xbox, they work like 0.00001% of the time. Randomly the mute button will just work and then even if I don't move and press it again, it no longer works.

I've Googled this issue and it seems like a common problem that's simply being ignored. I held the remote up to my phone camera to make sure the IR LEDs were lighting up when I pressed the volume and mute buttons and they are working fine. I really only
use my TV for my Xbox since I don't watch cable TV (Netflix, YouTube and Twitch only) so being able to actually use this remote to control it all would be nice...

    :)

    Media Remote

I think I have the same or similar issue. What's weird is that my Philips HTL2160 soundbar works great using the Kinect voice volume commands but not with the Media Remote. If I use the volume button on the remote my soundbar blinks like something is happening,
but the volume never changes. Yet, the mute button on the remote works fine. Again, the voice commands work fine for volume. Weird. Anyone find a solution?

  3. Xbox One Media Remote No TV Support

I just purchased the xbox one media remote and am experiencing an issue trying to control the volume/mute button, they don't work plain and simple. The remote functions fine with the xbox one. I have the xbox set up for my tv and it turns it on/off without
issue. Any ideas why the remote doesn't work with my tv?

    Media Remote

Having the exact same issue, very frustrating. Every button on the Xbox One Media Remote works perfect except for Volume Up/Down and Mute. Note, I have gotten it to work with 1 foot range of the console! Also pointing the remote straight down at the floor
for some reason works. How does every other button work from the couch work except for the Volume/Mute? Just got this remote today and already about to return it. Super disappointed in the quality control of everything related to Xbox One, the console itself
(already on 2nd due to loud squeaky fan), the OS/UI, my controllers are coming apart at the seams... About to sell it all and buy a PS3 as a media player at this point.

Hey guys, I see that some are trying to get the remote to change channels on your tv. Well the media remote only controls the tvs functions of power on/off, volume up/down, mute and TV input.

    [/quote]

Then why bother putting number buttons and a channel up/down button on the remote? I'm disappointed that I have to use two remotes for my TV/Xbox.

@Turvey, which remote did you purchase that works on both your TV/Xbox? I have a Philips/White Console.

The only thing the media remote will do to your TV is turn it on. The volume and channel buttons are not useable on it. You would be better of getting a Harmony remote and using that.

    new xbox media remote

The new media remote has the ability to control your tv functions such as on/off, volume up/down, mute and tv input. I hope that little bit of info will help you out.
