Media Remote Not Working

Program the media remote for your TV

Before your media remote can work with your television set, you need to program it for use with your particular brand of TV. There are two ways to program your media remote: manually entering your TV code or scanning to find your TV code.

Note After 30 seconds of inactivity, the media remote will exit the TV programming mode. Pressing any button besides Select, 0–9, or Channel Up/Down returns the media remote to its original mode and ends programming mode. Now, take the batteries out of the
remote for about 3 - 5 minutes to allow it to reset. From there replace the batteries in the remote and try the instruction that came with the remote (PDF). If that doesn't work then try to program the remote to a different tv to make sure the remote works
properly. Please just remember to program the remote within 9 seconds to prevent the

remote from resetting again in the middle of programming it.

I'm sorry to see any issues with your media remote! It sounds like something might be up with your IR blaster in the console. The media remote tends to be really finicky, and needs to be aimed directly in front of the console in order to have the console
receive the signal. Additionally, if you have your console in an entertainment center with a glass door, that glass can cause the light to refract and weaken the signal.

If you've got this all set up like I mentioned above, then we'll want to troubleshoot the IR blaster. The best way to do that is getting a separate IR blaster to plug into the console and see if the signal is better received. Another way to test things out
is by using the media remote on another console, if possible.

It's not just a lack of support for the Xbox One Media Remote. I have a Logitech Harmony Remote that works with the Xbox One and it also doesn't work with the YouTube App. The only device that seems to work with the YouTube app is the controller. It's a
shame since the Xbox One Media Remote works really well in other apps like Twitch,Crackle and Machinama.

Go to System Settings.

Then Console Settings.

Choose Remote Control -> If your remote dont work with "xbox media" then choose "both remotes"

Yes, the
Xbox One Media remote will work with an Xbox One X. I use mine regularly.
