Does the official media remote have a motion sensor(or something similar)that detects when pick it up/move it and turns the lights on the remote on or have I got a defective one with loose wiring?

NXOE bricked my XB1 Media Remote

Once i received the nxoe update in the preview program my xb1 media remote just quit working completely and now i have a bricked media remote that does nothing.

Xbox 360 New Media Remote

So I just got the new xbox 360 media bundle that comes with the new black media remote, a wireless controller and a HDMI cord. Everything works fine, except for the media remote. I did what the instructions said to connect the remote to my tv, but the only
things the remote will do is turn my tv on and off, change the volume, and mute my tv. Is that the only functions that the remote does for my tv, or did i not set it up right? I thought it was also supposed to change the channel and other stuff, too, or does
the media remote not have more than just the power and sound control?

No, not in the way I need. The Kinect does push IR signal to other devices, but it wont accept a signal from the remote to push to the One. I thought it was at first too, but it is not according to Microsofts XBOX One Media Remote Page. See the "Using

Thanks for reaching out, I can provide you a few details on the question that you're having. At the current moment the Xbox does have a feature to allow you to control it with a universal remote, but it must be an option added from the manufacture. At
the current moment, Xbox only has steps to set up their Xbox One Media Remote, I'll post a link near the bottom with that information just in case your remote is similar.

I am also having the same problem, the media remote does not work with the You Tube or CD Music Player apps. It does work with other apps I have tried, i.e. Netflix, Amazon, Hulu...

I know the You Tube app was just updated to support uploads, but the media remote still does not work. I would be nice for Microsoft to acknowledge the issue and let us know they are working on a fix.
