    Media Player's playback is jaggy/stuttering


    HiI'm on the Alpha ring (Xbox Series X), and the issue I've experienced using 'Media Player' app has been occurring for several weeks throughout a few updates to the Alpha builds.Playback (I wish I knew the correct terminology for the issue), is stuttering, every few microseconds the playback pauses then continues and pauses again and so on. The audio is fine. To check that it isn't my NAS or DLNA connection I tried two other apps 'Films & TV' and 'VLC UWP' and found each of these do playback correctly, however each have their own issues*.

    I tried to solve the problem by performing the obvious procedures; Restart the Console, Restarted the console holding the Xbox button for longer than 10secs, uninstalled 'Media Player', shut down the console restarted and reinstalled the 'Media Player' (v 2.6.425.0) made sure 'Media Player' is installed on the Internal Drive, checked there is plenty space on the Internal Drive etc.

    The only app giving me issue is 'Media Player'. I even used my TV DLNA app to test connectivity.

    So, I am wondering if there is a known issue with Media Player (hasn't been updated for quite a while) or if someone has a solution to get Media Player's playback running smooth again? I've also reported this via the 'Report a Problem' on Xbox

    Thanks* PS The 'Film & TV' app has a limitation to the level of nested/child directories one can navigate, and the 'VLC UMP' app is horribly limited and basic. Yes, even worse than Media Player. Although Media Player usually does the job well.

    Windows Media Player already installed in Windows 7 (or a free download if you have the N version). Xbox One Media Player to play that content. You can control all playback functions with Kinect.

    Alternatively purchase NAS with built in media server. Use Xbox One's Media Player to playback content. Use Kinect to control playback.

    Buy a media remote if you don't have Kinect.

    You seem to be adding needlessly complex steps to your media playback.

    Hello Troysch, Insider systems are known for their instabilities and bugs, and by their description I don't think there's anything wrong with their NAS.

    I don't know what brand you use, but they can usually need firmware updates.

    As for your own Xbox because you're from Insider Alpha Build, try checking the Insider community for similar issues.

    Anyone tried streaming a movie over DLNA since the latest update? I have a GB wired connection to my media server but movie playback seems to have a slight stutter/delay between picture and audio. Just enough jitter to be really annoying. Music playback
    is working great, so glad to have this added! Just wondering if anyone else is having issues with movie/video playback?

    Vudu and Amazon Video having problems since the New Xbox One Update. "Judder" or "Stutter" like effect when videos are playing on these two apps.

    I'm having the same exact problems. What's more is that with animated kids movies, after the stutter, the voices no longer sync up with the video. I'm sure the solution is "wait for the update." I just hope if enough people report the same problem, Microsoft
    will get on it. Thanks for raising the issue.
