    Media Player Woes

Frustrated with search results, I decided to post here.

I've bee struggling for the past week to get the Media Player working with my library of music and movies. At first, I was trying to stream MP3s from a Raspberry Pi running Kodi (formerly XBMC). At first, it would begin playing, but if at any time I clicked
the shuffle option, or simply tried to skip a track, it would crash with "an unknown error has occurred". I haven't had many problems streaming MKV files from the device to my Xbox One, but no matter what settings I changed or how many times I rebooted, it
    always ended the same.

So I switched over to setting up Windows Media Player on my Windows 7 Machine. I'd done this many moons ago to stream to the 360, but hadn't updated it since using the Raspberry Pi. I set up my networking and sharing properly and followed the guidelines
on the Windows support site. Despite having removed the old library drive (used to be K) and adding the new one (now M), the Xbox One for some reason still sees the old library and it's folders. Folders that no long exist. So when I try to play music, all
I get is missing file errors.

I tried suggestions from a number of sites, including the ones that suggested stopping tasks in the admin panel and restarting them or simply rebooting, but none of them have resolved my issue.

To be clear: Windows Media Player is no longer using the K: drive as its music library folder, but the Xbox One ONLY shows the K drive when listing media available from that computer.

    Please advise.

    :)

    Time to vent

For your music woes, use Media Browser 3.. Granted it still stream your music in that god awful 'snap' taking 1/4 of your screen.. But it will allow you to play your ripped music. It also won't swap focus when the song changes as it would with the traditional
    'play to'. See this thread.

Windows Media Player on Xbox Series X crashes after switching to another app

Windows Media Player is not on Xbox, there is the Xbox Media Player, is that what you mean?

edere File Video su Pc sulla Xbox 360[Translation-E.O. Video Files on PC on Xbox 360]

The Xbox (and other media devices) don't access your media files directly. Instead they use something called DLNA, which requires your PC to have indexed your media library.

Then only the index is read by the Xbox (or other media players), and according to that index, you choose the files to play.

If you moved files around, or the index became corrupted, the Xbox can't find the media files anymore.

Please start the Windows Media player on your PC, and check that in that Media Player library, your media files are shown and are working correctly.

If the Media Player can't locate your media, the Xbox 360 can't get to the media as well.

Why can't the ONE play the same media files as 360 ???

Open the media player app. When you run the Media Player app, select your external USB drive, and then select the media that you want to play.
