    Media Player showing mp4 files in Music and Video


    I have my Xbox One connected to a WDMyCloud storage device. I have a mp4 collection in the Shared Videos folder on the device. When I launch the Media Player app, it sees the device but it separates part of the files into the Music folder and part into
    the Video folder. All of the files are the same video format. Is there anything I can do to put my entire collection together?

    Can I put video on USB and play it on xbox?

    Same problem i am having as well, I can play MP4 Video format on my Xbox, how can update the media file with out internet?

    Does the XB1 Media Player support MP4's ? It sees the WMV files on my Media Server, but not the MP4's.

    XBOX ONE Media Player no longer finds music on network

    Corrected when trying to stream music on my XBOX One from my PC using media player app, I do this because playlists are also playable, the music files are no longer found. Video files and picture files are still able to be streamed. I am wondering since
    the add of music to onedrive and xbox music did they remove the ability to stream music with media player. on another note the media player on the One is awful compared the players on the 360.

    Hi Vol4Ever,

    So are you having issues streaming what you are doing on your PC to your Xbox? Is that done through the built in Media Player app?

    I did some research and I found that MP4 and MKV files don't get read very well and unfortunately I don't think there are any codecs that you can download online. I found this how-to guide that may help and maybe you can set up the streaming again to re-establish
    a better connection between the PC and Xbox:

    VLC is a media app as well as Kodi on the Xbox One as alternatives to the built in Xbox Media player app.

    I can stream mp4's and mkv's on the media player.

    1. try renaming the files. sometimes when they're too long they don't show up or won't show up until i rename them.

    2. try with wifi instead of hard wired

    3. you have to go into network and sharing settings and give the xbox one pemission to to view your pc media library.

    4. try different files. go on youtube and download an mp4 and put it on your usb stick and try it.
