Media Player Preview loses connection to USB device periodically

Been happening to me recently too. Ususlly I get to watch 20-50 minutes before it happens.

 

I am having this problem too, when i watch a movie Werther its mp4 or mkv or divx avi makes no difference! i have tried all formats and still sfter watching the movie after a hour or 30 or so minutes i get the lost connection to usb drive message and after
i close the error screen i see the drive is still connected and the x1 is still connected to it? lol

And like above its super annoying having to search through the movie to continue from where i left off!

I found leaving my controller on and occasionally pressing a button stops this problem from happening.

Strange thing is my usb hard drive has its own power source so it cant be the auto shut off? either way i am sure MS will fix it soon! main thing is we need to complain in threads just like this so people will let MS know about the problem.

Eithery way I AM LOVING THE MKV/DLNA and usb drive media playback! i used to use my PS3 for media playback now i have finally retired it! Now my X1 really is the centre of my living room!

I still cant believe both these console launched without DLNA and usb media playback.

At least MS has sorted it, meanwhile at sony........... M PS4 feels so basic o.s side,LMAO.

 

Same Problem here. SUPER annoying. At least let the app remember Playback position!!

 

Same thing here, i hope they get a patch soon. For now i am using a streaming app called playback from my mac thru the media app on xbox and it seems to be working better.

same problem also. hard drive loses connection. didn't happen with media player preview started two updates or so ago really sucks with no resume option. gonna try reinstalling app

 

I'm having the exact same issue of the drive "disconnecting" every 5-10min into a movie, and this only started happening since they updated it from the preview version

 

Same problem no mater what type USB drive I use. 2.0 or 3.0 also when connected to DLPNA server set up on my computer. All set up on same network and Microsoft acount

 

What do you mean "new" media player? Mine was pinned and now it's gone. It was recently used and now it won't come up. I tried to re-download it and it wouldn't connect. I was perfectly fine with the old media player. Hope they didn't mess it up. I played
whole movies without any skipping which the 360 never did for me.

 

I'm having the same issues here, constantly disconnecting. Today I'm seeing that the app is completely gone. Anyone know what's going on?

Sorry to hear about the Media Player app issues, I can definitely understand how frustrating that could be. There was a recent service alert that my have caused issues if you were trying to install the Media Player app, but this issue has been resolved.
