  1. Media Player & Photo Viewer on Xbox One (X)...

I'm really disappointed by the complete lack of ease using the media features my new Xbox One X, switching over from Xbox 360. There's no simple music player nor is there a simple photo viewer. There was a CD player app, but you couldn't do anything but
listen to the CD. It automatically stopped playing when I tried to use the dashboard. Useless app. I don't want a subscription to any music streaming services, I just want to be able to listen to my music as I always have since the original XBOX, from 15 years
ago, and the Xbox 360... There was absolutely no reason to take those functions away. I like having a music player with a visualizer on my console as well as the ability to view photos with zoom in/out functions. They may be small things, but I expected them
to be on the new console, as well... The free Windows Media Player app which you have to download first, is absolute garbage, as pretty much everyone on the internet has stated on the subject. Please restore the simple console music player/photo viewer.

    Thank you!

How to view slideshow from media player of network files without cropping each photo - HELP!

HELLO - should be simple but I can find nothing on the internet. I have my Xbox One S networked. Through media player I can see and play most media files that are on my computer via my XBOX to my large screen TV (standard Microsoft network file sharing
protocol). It's a very nice feature, but...

PROBLEM - the default display format of the Microsoft media player app is to do transitions from picture to picture by moving them around the screen, zoomed out then zooming in on each picture. It's one of many ways to build cute transitions from photo
to photo. Unfortunately the default programming is to significantly crop each file as it allows the onscreen movement. I HATE THAT. I take well planned photos and I want to view all the beauty of each photo vs. cropped pictures. I can't find any settings
    options for the media player.

I then downloaded and tried to view via the Photos app - but it can't see my network files (argh!). HELP!!!

Does anyone know how to change the transition method that is burned into the slideshow function of the app

    OR

Know a different app that will view my network files and allow me to do a slideshow of them without modifying the appearance of each photo?

    THANKS!

Playing/stream media through Xbox One (Photos/Movies and Music)

I currently have a xbox 360, and I use it for media sharing through either Media Center (extender) or via the Xbox music app, Xbox Video App & Photo App.

I understand there is no media center extender for Xbox one.

    My questions:

Can I still view/browse all my photos stored on my PC through xbox one?

Can I still view/browse all my music.videos stored on my PC through xbox one? I understand you can do Playto from the PC to Xbox one, but is not good, as you really do not want to have to go to your PC every time you want to play something new.

how do i set up windows media center so i can connect my xbox 360 to my windows 10 pc

While you can't use Media Center with Windows 10 (as Windows 10 doesn't have Media Center anymore), you can still stream music, videos and pictures to your Xbox 360 via DLNA.

To set that up, start the Windows Media Player on your Windows 10 PC, and make sure the Media Player has access to your media files. Usually, Media Player looks for that under "Users\[YOUR USERNAME HERE]\[Pictures | Music | Videos]"

If you use different folders or drives for your media library, you need to add those folders and drives to the Media Player's library.

If your media shows up in the Media Player window, you need to turn on Media Sharing on the Windows 10 PC.

Open the start menu, and type "Control" to find the Control Panel.

In the Control Panel, type in the upper right corner "Media"

Under "Network and Sharing Center" should be a link to the "Media Streaming Options".

If necessary, enable Media Streaming and make sure your Xbox 360 is running.

You should then see the Xbox 360 in the list of available devices. Allow the Xbox 360 to access your PC's Media Library.

Now, on your Xbox 360, start the Music Player, Photo Viewer or Video player, and as source choose your PC from the list.

You should then see the media that your PC shares to your local network.

    Picture streaming?

Most likely one of two things

    A) You did not allow your XBOX to stream photo's from your PC on your computer itself

Open "My Computer", then on the left side, select "Network", wait for it all to load. Under Media Devices, you will see "XBOX 360", right click that and select "Media Streaming Options". On the next screen you should see a "Customize" button next to the
XBOX 360, select that and confirm that its allowing photo's to be streamed. Also make sure you have added the photo's to Windows Media Player's Library (WMP -> Organize -> Manage Libraries -> Pictures)

    B) The photos are not in a format the XBOX supports

Xbox One S and External Drive - Some folders show as Empty (even though they have files in on Windows 10)

    Hi there Catterwaul,

Thanks for reaching out here in Xbox Forums. I understand there is an issue with file formats on the Xbox One console. I recommend checking out this article for more information: Video,
photo, and audio on Media Player for Xbox One FAQ
    .

Give this a try and let us know the results.

    Xbox one Photo app issue

    Hello Vain,

Thanks, for coming to the forums with your questions. In the photo app there may be changes to the buttons. As B button works everywhere else it may be set to not back up in the photo app itself.

As for setting a default media player, there is no way to set a default media player. You can pin them to the home screen. VLC is a good media player also.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,

    Brad
