I can see every other media format on my computer Media Server except MKV's.

I thought the new update was going to allow MKV files to play?

Media Player error 0xc00d36c4 streaming MKV from PC

Maybe someone could at least confirm for me whether this is even a use-case that is expected to work?Is it expected that you can stream MKV video using the Media Player app on Xbox One from a Win8.1 PC media library?

I have subsequently tried to re-pro the issue on a fresh build of Win8.1 on a different PC on my home network, using the same MKV files, and same Media Streaming options. In this case Media Player app on XB1 does not even list the MKV files within this media
library. Maybe this is the default behaviour instead?

On the PC hosting the MKV files with which the Media Player app gives error 0xc00d36c4, I once had some third-party MKV codecs installed (CCCP) so that I could watch MKVs in Media Player 12 for Windows 8. Once MS added MKV support to the Video app in Win8.1
I uninstalled these third-party codecs. Could this be the only reason that the Media Player app on XB1 sees the MKV files in this media library, and it isn't even supposed to?

Media Player Not showing MKV files.

The update was to include the support of MKV files.

Maybe give it an un-install and re-download? Possibly it will pick up the update and allow the use of MKV! Only idea i have on that one as it should have been done for you??

Let me know how it works out!

EDIT --- Does it give an error message of any kind or any notification when trying to play MKV?

Just posted above an idea, also ScottJMDavies question as i edited above...do you get any warning? Or Notifications?

  7. There are no warnings or error messages.

When I select all video's in the Media Player App, it shows all my videos on my media server apart from the mkv videos.

I know there are mkv videos on the media server, but the Xbox Media Player App doesn't show them.

EDIT- I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Media Player App. That didn't solve the problem.

None of this worked for me.

MKV files are not visible. And to restate...I CAN see all other media files.

I'm having the exact same problem as pAter above, all media files show up except MKV folders where it states "No Files Found."

Found a little something, i'm completely oblivious to these MKV files, but i did find a thread explaining how to "push" MKV to the Xbox One!

To save some time copying and pasting (not to mention copy infringement haha)

Click HERE and give it a read! If it works for ya'll let me know!

  12. Well, I don't want to push files. Ive known how to do that. The point of steaming media is so that I don't have to walk all the way across my house to access it. Else I would just build myself a Media PC.

Anyway, turns out that the problem may be due to the Audio used in the creation of the MKV. DTS does not work and AC3 does. (supposedly). Ill have to test it myself.

    Was in this thread...

I also can not see the files.

I don't know about the Audio issue they talk about in the other thread, because they can see the files and get an error, we can not even see the files.

Can someone please help me with this. How do you actually set this up? I had already added my xbox one to my network as I use the "play to" streaming option. If I am going to use the media player on the xbox what do I need on my PC?

Currently the only thing that shows up is Vuze....
