media player not reading files on external storage anymore

since the new update, it says there are no files on my external storage. it still detects the drive as being there, it just says its empty when i go to watch a movie and it didn't do that before the last update. my friend says this isn't happening to him,
so i just want to know if im the only person this has happened to so far or not, but would also like some help (for once)

    :)

    XBOX One Media Player

I have a 2 TB external hard drive from Seagate that I use for video file storage. When I plug the drive into the console it is recognized and it says at the bottom "external storage device detected; hold X to launch". When I hold the home button it launches
the media player but then the media player says "no storage device detected". Is there a size restriction for media player that is causing my hard drive not to be recognized?

Ps: the drive is formatted FAT32

    External Hard drive for media

I have an external hard drive that I used to play movies. (I use the media player app)

I also used a flash drive for the same thing.

since the new update my xbox will no longer acknowledge the media files on my external hard drive. it will recognize that I have another storage device, but wont let me play or even see the files.

I am still able to use a flash drive to play files but I am wondering why I cant use my EHD.

    any ideas?

It's common the solution is to re-format it to run NTFS you can google/bing how to format a external drive on WIN 10 at any time. Or you can format it using the Xbox 360 to run FAT32 and then plug it back into the Xbox one and it'll ask you if you want to
    format it to use NTFS.

Please note this will wipe the drive clean so if you have important files please transfer it to the PC temporary.

    Hey there -

    Have you looked through the
    troubleshooting guide
for Xbox One consoles not recognizing external storage devices yet? If not, please read through that and follow all the steps as provided. Also, if you are able to, try a different USB cable and USB port on your Xbox One to see if
    that helps at all.

Let us know if that helps!

well, i looked through the guide and here's how that went...

it says it needs a USB 3.0 cable, but i dont have one and it was working fine on the system until now so i dont see a need to buy one. it also says it needs 256GB storage or larger but same deal - it was working fine with the 250GB provided and i dont understand
how a lousey 6GB would cause a problem when it has a 1TB internal storage on the system.

the next area said to go into "Manage Storage", but that wont work as it instantly brings me into media player to select the drive and i'm left with the same problem.

next says to make sure my system is up to date and it is so....

lastly it suggests connecting to other ports on the system so i tried them all and again, same issue. it still will detect the drive and it knows it's there but it just wont detect the files.

first i thought it may be a format issue but it never was before and the drive is mixed with many kinds of formats for the videos (mkv...mp4...u name it, it's on there lol and everything has been played at least once so far) is it now just refusing to detect
the files as a whole because it's unable to read one of the file types since the latest update? if that IS the case could i get a list of files that are no longer supported so as to remove them from the drive please?

Don't listen to anyone saying "format" or sending you to the troubleshoot, nothing will work as for it is an Xbox issue not your hard drive, it has been confirmed by several employees I have had a chat with and Microsoft is looking into it.....they have
been for a couple weeks now and it's taking awhile
