media player not on store

Trying to play mkv's, I get an error telling me;

Can't Play

This item was encoded in a format that's not supported.

This is with the Media Player Preview. This is the only media player that shows up in the app store for me.

Any ideas?

 

Media centre streaming problem

I want to play my music from the pc through my 360. have followed the steps posted on the forum but no go, and the support section shows a version of media im not running. have windows 7 home basic and windows media v12. also cant find windows media app
on 360 app store.

please help. everything says it should be easy but its not!

 

So, the apps have problem in the store which probably due to software licensing it has affected currently installed media player and blu ray apps. Dude on chat says should be ok within 24 hours... watch this space...

 

Dude on chat sounds like he is full of ***, and Microsoft is just trying to push an update to the Bluray player and failing.

 

its knackered more than just that, I did sense a fob off but just passing on what they cut and paste haha

 

Id like to know how something *** up like this within 24 hrs without getting an udate ?

 

Same here. The media player app did not work so I tried to reinstall but it is not in store.

When I insert USB Disk (the original way it was installed) it says that i can browse the media, but when I try to, it shows this Content not available error.

I hope the MS guys can sort it out soon. I promised my daughter we will watch a fairy tale in the morning so please do not make me a liar . There is a child's happiness at stake.

 

So I just tried to play Fifa which is the digital version and I'm getting the same error

 

Same problem in Ireland. I tried going to settings to set my background image, but that tried launching the media player which isn't available now.

 

Same here ... Media player is gone and blueray app no longer starts.... Canada...

 

I'm getting the same error now when I try and launch a game from the xbox store which I have purchased

 

So glad it isn't just me. I've been googling for an hour and there was no talk of this issue.

I was having an issue where I put a blu ray disc in and the system was saying to put in a proper format.

So I uninstalled the blu ray app thinking it needed a refresh. Rebooted the system and went to the store to get it again and at first it wasn't there. Then it was there and I tried pinning it to the home screen and now it doesn't install. It's just sitting
on my home screen as a black tile. No name, logo or anything.

It just gives me the option to install, see in store or manage but none of them do anything.

Now it doesn't show in the store again and the tile is useless.

Thankfully I have a PS4 that doesn't make one of the most simple tasks a console has to do a chore.

Microsoft is so pathetic when it comes to user friendly. Drop the kinect idiots and work on your dash working better.

 

Why is no one fixing this?
