Media Player - No folders found

    Hey,

The Media Player app does recognize my PC (using DLNA\Wifi), but it can't find any folders on it.

(I've made sure the videos library does have video files in it, just to be clear)

How do I configure the Media Player app where the video files are on my PC and why didn;t it automatically find it??

    Thanks!

    :)

    Media player app connection?

The media player app will launch, and my upstairs PC shows up in the list of available network devices. It appears to connect properly on click, but all the folders show "No files found". Upstairs desktop sees the Xbox and I have the permissions set to
full allow. Anyone know what folders the Xbox scans for pictures, music, videos, etc? Thanks!

    Play To disappearing

The only problem with using the Media Player is that my videos are on two separate hard drives. I have them separated into folders using letters of the alphabet for each folder and the N-Z folders are all symlinked from the Video folder to their locations
on the second drive. The Media Player won't see the symlinks at all so I can't access half my video library from the Media Player. I can play them from Play To, however it'll drop out from time to time, usually if I reboot the media server and the Xbox is
    still on. It's annoying.

Xbox Music duplicating content on PCs

    Hey ldl01031,

Sorry to hear you're having issues with duplicate songs.

From the files that you linked it looks like it is creating a new instance of the song in your overall music folder, the Xbox Music folder, and then a backup in the Xbox Music Cache. With the size of the network and volume of songs it sounds like you're trying
to manage, this may not be an issue we can completely resolve as the Media Player is not intended to function in that capacity.

That being said, I would still recommend you check out the
    Windows Media Player Troubleshooter
    .

There is also these steps to remove duplicate items from your library:

**I would recommend backing up your data first before trying either of these methods**

    a. Click Start, click Run, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Player, and then click OK.

    b. Select all the files in the folder, and then click Delete on the File menu.

Note: You do not have to delete the folders that are in this folder.

    c. Restart Windows Media Player.

Note: Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

If this does not resolve the problem, clear the Windows Media Player database cache files. To do this, follow these steps:

    a. Exit Windows Media Player.

    b. If you are running Windows 7, click Start, click Run, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft, and then click OK.

    c. Select the Media Player folder, and then click Delete on the File menu.

    d. Restart Windows Media Player.

Note: Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

I'm not 100% on this method as it doesn't look like these files are true duplicates since they are not being saved into the same destinations.

Please let us know how that all works for you and we'll go from there.

    External Hard Drives

the easiest method is to set up a shared folder with windows media player on your PC, and stream your media wired or wireless to you xbox360. any media in the shared folder your xbox will see. movie files should be in the format Divxx/Xvid/ or WMV or H.264
