media player - lost connection to USB device when watching videos

I'm having a issue where it will play the media for about 10 minutes to 1 hour (depending on how the X-one fells at the time) and then says it has lost connection to the device. I back out and it instantly sees my device again. I select what I was watching
and fast forward to the point it cut off and then it will doing it again in the same amount of time(10 to 60 mins), over and over again. Witch after several times of happening becomes very frustrating!! I have tried 3 different Portable HD's (1 USB 2.0 &
2 USB 3.0) and 6 different USB(2.0) flash sticks, all the same problem. Using different cables for the HD’s, ports and get the same results. This happens with several different video formats the X-one can play. I have checked the devices on the 360 and that
plays the videos with no problem! It has to be a software issues with the Media Player. Microsoft please fix and/or do something about this software problem.

    :)

Media Player Preview loses connection to USB device periodically

I tried using the new media player, and a few times while watching the movie, I got a message that the connection to the USB drive was lost at the same time I got a new notification saying the USB device was ready. I had to navigate back to my original place
    in the movie.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue or have any suggestions?

Media Player Preview loses connection to USB device periodically

I'm having a similar issue where it will play the media for about 5-10 minutes and then says it has lost connection to the device. I back out and it instantly sees my device again. I select what I was watching and fast forward to the point it cut off and
it will then play for another 5-10 minutes before doing it again. Sometimes it can go 30 odd minutes before doing it. I have tried two different Portable HD's with different cables and get the same results. I have checked the devices on the 360 and that plays
the videos with no problem. It has to be either Software Issues with the Media Player or the USB ports on the Xbox One cutting out briefly.

Could you try toggling the Settings > Power > ”When Xbox is off, turn off storage” option? Some drives will perform better with this option deselected. Please post back your results once you have, and we will go from there! :3

Hi folks. I'm having the exact same issue and many others too it seems. I thought it was a fault with my pny usb 2.0 32gb stick but I've since purchased a new SanDisk usb 3.0 64gb and same problem occurs. MP4 files usually. Hope this gets sorted out soon.

  11. Hey, guys! I have some terrific news! If you have your console set to Instant On, you should have received an update to your Media Player app. If you are set to Energy Saving, you should receive the update later today if you haven't launched the app up.
Please test out the app with any of your USB devices. Let me know of your results and if you are still seeing the error after update. media player - lost connection to USB device when watching videos :)
