Media Player isn't recognizing *anything* anymore...

I had been watching a series of videos stored on my NAS a week ago, and then didn't do much w/my xbox. I sat down tonight to watch a movie from my NAS, and it was still on the old menu of the series. So I browsed back, got to my videos, it loaded the menu
of those just fine, tried to select a video (that I've watched before) and it said there was a problem w/the extension or the file was corrupt. I jumped on my computer, browsed to my NAS, loaded the video and played it just fine. Went back to the xbox and
tried again, same issue. I tried a different video I've watched before... same issue. Tried several others... all the same.

Then I figured maybe it was a cached session, so I force quit media player and loaded it back up. Now, my NAS wasn't recognized (but the USB stick plugged in still was). I thought maybe it was a network thing, so I switched from my 2.4ghz to 5ghz - still
didn't find it. Switched back and forth.. no luck.

Next, I restarted the box, loaded media player back up... now it wouldn't even show the USB plugged into it (and it's a leaf USB with a LED that lights up, so I *know* the box itself saw it). I then tried uninstalling the app and reinstalling it... same.
Tried a gambit of switching networks, restarting, etc... media player recognizes nothing now.

No console updates available, no app updates available.

    Any ideas?

    :)

Hey Phrozt! It seems like you've done quite a few troubleshooting steps, do you have any other flashdrives you could test with? Post back and let me know how it goes!

My Xbox detects and lists that there is an external hard drive attached but when I open it in media player I get the "No files found message". The external works perfect on my PC so I know it is not at fault!

Hey TheFury749! What file types are on the storage device? Check out the
    Media Player FAQ
for supported file types. Post back and let me know!

Ok, finally got the time to try this again.

I literally haven't touched Media Player on my xbox since I last updated this thread. I opened it up again... it still had the USB flash drive (let's call it Flash1) plugged in an flashing, and it still did not recognize it. I did a clean format to another
flash drive (32GB, we'll call Flash2) to NTFS, loaded one movie on it, made sure it would play in a few devices, and then plugged it in. It did not recognize it. The flash drive did not even light up when I plugged it in.

Did a restart of the system, and it still did not recognize Flash2 or my NAS, though the drive itself did light up. I plugged Flash1 back in, and it did recognize it, and I was able to play a movie off of it (I've been using the same movie file in tests
to eliminate that variable). When I plugged Flash1 back in, it still lit up, but it was still not recognized.

In trying to get it to recognize my NAS, I switched from 5Ghz to 2Ghz... still did not recognize my NAS

Has this issue been addressed yet?

I was prompted to update my console today and now my media player has stopped as well, and i have already gone through all the troubleshooting steps on the FAQ page and nothing has worked.

Is this problem actually going to be fixed any time soon?

My problem still persists - I spent ages talking to xbox support and they could not solve the issue. It is nothing to do with the file types - my hard drive and its contents were recognised for 2 years then right after this update it just says 'no files
    found'.
