Media Player green screen when playing 4K videos

Hi. I have an issue with my new Xbox One S: I have just a green screen (sound works) when I try to play 4k videos from an USB device. I have tried a h.264 mp4 file and a h.265 mov file, both have the same problem. Both formats work without any problems when
playing them directly on my Samsung UHD TV. Is there a lack of codec support or what is the problem?

    Thanks, Ron

    :)

Bought XBox One S for 4k - 4k not working.

I don't believe the XBOX One S supports 30Hz at 3840X2160. My 4k doesn't support 60Hz but does support 50Hz, 30Hz, and 24Hz and I can't get anything on the XBOX One to work in 4k, including setting the TV Resolution. YouTube will not offer the option to
play in 4k and Media Player provides a green screen when playing a 4k MP4. There is no 30Hz option that I see in the Advanced Video Settings.

Green screen when playing a 4k video in the media player app.

When I try to play 4K mov video from my Drone (DJI) I get a green screen in the Media player app. (there is preview tile.) the television is a Samsung and the Xbox one S is in 4K UHD mode. (the video plays well on my PC, TV native app etc...)

that's all you will get if your 4K file is HDR. Currently the media player app is only able to play 4K SDR Media Player green screen when playing 4K videos ;) Let's hope for an update because it's stupid that it can't play HDR files while the X1S is able to do it...

I do not think it is HDR. The videos are from a (2 year old) Panasonic LX100 and from my iphone 6s+. I do not think that they have HDR. My TV is also 2 years old, so it should not have HDR too. The Batman v. Superman UHD BD worked well BTW.

  6. Has nothing to do with hdr, I've tried over 20 videos, any 4k video doesn't play and I get a green screen as well.

  7. I've had the same issue on all the 4K videos I had. I recompressed the video using Handbrake still at 4k rez and got them to play. I changed too many things at once (I was impatient and should have known better) so I'm trying to nail down what it is that
    it doesn't like

  8. Media Player green screen when playing 4K videos

Got the same Problem with Media Player and VLC

I tried a lot of Codecs an Formats but nothing works.

    h265 with 35,25 and 15 Mbits 3840x2160 (50p)

    h264 with 35,25 and 15 Mbits 3840x2160 (50p)

Played from USB AND internal Drive...

The weird thing is that the h265 15 Mbits 3840x2160 (50p) works. i rendered a 10 seconds snippet of the movie in that format and the VLC App AND the Media Player played it. then, if i rendered the whole movie in this format (film duratio about 5 Min) got
    the same Problem.

VLC just showed Black screen with audio / Media Play Green Screen with audio. The Support just says "its no Computer" and "the Xbox one s is no Computer...it wont works"

(My Console: X Box One s)

Endoder Software: Adobe Media Encoder cc 2017

Is there a datasheet which codecs an specifications are supportet by the Xbox one s? Every Cheap DVD Play got this Information in it´s Manual...

    HEEEEELP :-(

  9. Problem is fixed! 4k from USB Stick Works! Xbox one s

first of all sorry for my not correct technical English Media Player green screen when playing 4K videos :p

Al ot of time and sleepless nights. but now i got 4k(UHD) 3840x2160 50fps running on my X1s from the USB Drive Media Player green screen when playing 4K videos :)

I tried a lot with Adobe´s Media Encoder cc2017 but nothing works.

I think there is a Codec ID Problem. I rendered a lot of h264 and h265 Movies out of Adobe Media Encoder. Result-> Greenscreen, System Crash etc. (on X1s)

This Software works for me - Maybesomeone got a freeware Solution?

Aiseesoft 4k konverter - Works for me fine (about 35€ Fullversion. Can also try a Testversion)

(Dont know if there is a freeware solution with this Codec Settings...maybe ffmpeg?)

Stats for Nerds after encoding with Aiseesoft...

(Check Parameters with free MediaInfo Lite 0.7.96)

I choose this settings at Aiseesofts 4k Converter:

    4k Preset: 4k H.265/HEVC Video

    - go to the Settings in the Profile and make sure that your export solution is the same as your Source Video (4k=4096x2160 / UHD=3840x2160) (Check Parameters with free MediaInfo Lite 0.7.96)

Videodatarate: 50.000 kbps (works for me fine with an USB 2.0 Stick) If your Source Video got less bandwith choose less datarate. (If Your h264 Source got 4000 kbps it maes no sence to choose an higher Datarate. h265 is encoding much more
efficient than h264 so you can coohse about the same datarate to be on the sve side for image Quality.

    Rest to Automatic.

    Important!

Don´t click OK! Click "Save as..." and save an own Profile because if you have a 3840x2160 Video the settings will jumps back to 4096x2160...don´t know why.

Have fun with 4k/UHD on your X1s from USB Drive!
